It’s present day Nepal. Buddhism was founded way back in BCE time, before Christ, back then Nepal didn’t exist(neither did current day india) but the founder of Buddhism was a Hindu which is mostly currently related to Indians ( And I guess it was a Hindu ruled empire in the Indian subcontinent during that time which is now best represented by India). I could be wrong about some things though …. I m not Asian, would love to be corrected.
