One of my favorite ways to save money is look around my neighborhood and see if there is a house that is obviously not using the fruit falling off their trees. I knock on the door and ask if they mind if i pick it up. I have filled hundreds of jars this way. Its a win win, since i get lots of fruit, and they don't have to clean up the mess. I am very rarely turned down.

Great idea! Thanks for sharing that. There is so much free food around. We know some people who go on a vacation every year when their garden is in full bloom. The people who take care of their home while they are gone get so much produce, and it could last them through Christmas if they preserved it.
