Welcome to Termez, Uzbekistan! This 2,500-year-old city along Uzbekistan’s southern border with Afghanistan is full of hidden gems and fascinating historical sites, yet it remains largely unexplored by tourists. It’s a wild frontier town that boasts a rich history, including its conquest by Alexander the Great and its role as a center for Buddhism during the Kushan Empire.
🇮🇷 Iran Travel Series: • FIRST MEAL in Iran 🇮🇷 ...
In this documentary, we’re exploring this city, the southernmost city in Uzbekistan. From the the Fayaz-Tepe Buddhist Monastery to the Sultan Saodat Complex to the crumbling ruins of Kara-Tepe Monastery, Termez’s historical sites are a dream to explore.
We’re also heading outside the city to the town of Jarkurgan to visit a local cultural center, see the oldest minaret in all of Central Asia, and eat some of the best lamb in the entire country! We’re also exploring other Uzbek favorites like somsas and norin, and even trying a breakfast inspired by Uzbekistan’s time as part of the Soviet Union.
So come with me and let’s explore the southernmost reaches of this incredible and underrated country. Let’s go to Termez and Jarkurgan, Uzbekistan!

Good morning David. Simply stunning. As an unknowing person of European history, this was very interesting but a little complicated to understand because of the vast amount of information which we can't really take in in one documentary. This one calls for more research for me. I always do a little research before I view it so I can understand something about where you are. However, everything is so huge and well kept. All those buildings with such intricate designs are beautiful to look at. As for the food, well, to each his own. Some I liked, some I didn't. All in all, it was a very interesting doc. There is still a lot to learn but you have opened the door a little bit to understanding some of the history of Uzbekistan. Have a blessed day 🙏😇❤️🇹🇹🇨🇦. BTW, the funniest part was to see you and the driver during that trip: you don't speak Uzbek and he doesn't speak or understand English.🤔🤣🤣🤣
