CCD sensors create high-quality, low-noise images. CMOS sensors are usually more susceptible to noise. 6) I try to Only buy cameras and lenses from Sellers in Japan

**The CCD was invented in 1969 at Bell Labs by Willard Boyle and George Smith. Since that CCD FILM LIKE SENSOR was sensitive to light it was used as image sensor for video and TV cameras. It could also be used as a memory device or analogue signal delay since it's principally a kind of analogue shift-register circuit.

I absolutely love your channel but I am trying so hard not to add every camera you feature to a wish list! I studied a bit of analogue in the 90s and purchased a Nikon DSLR starter kit but it was intimidated that I was only using auto mode and I needed to always have a tripod with me so I abandoned ship I went over to the Canon Powershot world. I don't think any of them have Leica lenses but a couple do have IS or IBIS and it makes the world of difference when you're shooting without a tripod! This is now the third post I've seen of yours on this camera and I just perused a couple of online stores to add it to wish list. But unfortunately the millennial digicam era has already swooped in and they are closer to $100 although I did see one on eBay for $50 for parts only... haha. The black and white Beach shots are detailed and crisp. Since I am now on the west coast I shoot a lot of shots on the shore and the crisp grasses and the highlights in the driftwood are gorgeous..... so another camera on my wish list! Thanks to you I do have a couple of DSLRs that are CCD I was able to snap them up a year or so ago before the digicam fad drove the prices up. Thanks again for the wonderful post!

Since childhood I've been fascinated by cameras, going back to the WWII era bellows cameras my family had purchased in Germany or Japan. But now I have to keep up with all the tech talk including CMOS, CCD, full-frame, etc but watching your channel give me confidence I will understand it all someday! Meanwhile, my creativity makes up for my limited knowledge of the camera itself !!😂

Proof again that you don't need a good/great camera to take good/great photos, you just have to be a good, or in Professor Taverna's case, a great photographer. When I was 8-years old, I made a Pin-hole camera, and 70-years and many top of the line cameras and lenses later, some of those Pin-hole camera pics are some of the best I have ever captured. Look at what kind of cameras were used a 150-plus-years ago, and look at the pics taken with those crude, big boxes. They are some of the best photographs ever taken. Art painted with light. Now days you don't have an excuse for a bad pic. If you consistently produce inferior or uninteresting photographs, buying better equipment isn't going to cure the problem. Love your channel. I have the mentioned Sony RX100 V, my go-to small camera, but I love the small Lumix cameras. I have a similar camera, the TZ3, but I might have suggested, since she wanted small, the even smaller Lumix FH25. It is a 16 mega- pixel camera with a similar Leica lens with an equivalent range of 28-224mm optical zoom, with stabilization, and the same CCD sensor. It fits comfortably in my shirt pocket, as only weighs 159 grams.

Thanks, I just bought the DMC LX2 in Toronto, based on your video, and looking forward to seeing what the difference is to my DMC FS20 for B&W. The Cost in CDN$ was $108.00 so you were right on with cost. I have a Nikon Z fc but wanted a small B&W camera for everyday shooting. Looks a great camera top review as always :) Ive had lots of CCD point and shoots and the best i found is the coolpix 8800 a little large but the images where out of this world. Im currently using the Fuji F30 and it also takes Amazing film like pics :) All the best i look forward to watching many more of your Videos !

Your F30 from Fujifilm is absolutely on my must have list, it has a unique 6.3 MP sensor. Never sell it.

I have a Panasonic LX3 and a Leica D-Lux 2 (based on the Panasonic LX1). They are both wonderful compact cameras to use, when I need a really small camera with full PASM and RAW files. I can't recommend increasing the ISO much at all, because the noise it results in is anything but pleasing to look at, but that's okay. I have used my LX3 and D-Lux2 under very varied conditions with satisfying results - especially the RAW files.

I find the Panasonic sensors return an interesting effect. Hard to describe - kind of soft sharpness or sharp softness but very pleasing to my eye.
