The only requirements for Yun Tal to apply are that the damage critically strikes and the damage applies On-hit effects. Every ability interaction shown is functioning how it should, except for two: Shaco Q and Akshan Passive. They critically strike, and they apply on-hits, so what's the deal? After doing a little testing, I found out something: THEY ARE FAKE CRITS. They are completely ignored by the "Critical Resilience" passive on Randuin's Omen. Although the descriptions say "the attack critically strikes" like every other ability that crits, the damage is only reduced by the "Rock Solid" passive. That's why Shaco Q only applies the burn if he has actual crit chance, cause the original Attack crits, not the Q. So, if you've been building Randuin's Omen into a Crit Akshan, you are actually getting trolled by riot and taking about 12.24% more damage than you should be taking! If you've been playing Crit Shaco, you actually do more damage if you backstab someone with Q and DON'T crit. At 173ad, a Q backstab does 322 damage, "increased" to 255 if you crit naturally! How awesome, I love Riot Games :)

For Ashe, with JUST the arrows, your hits on targets slowed by her passive will always apply it, as her passive simply makes every hit a crit with severely reduced crit damage. It's worded to say it doesn't crit, but coded to always crit, even with 0% crit. The damage scales with both crit damage and chance. One thing you didn't touch on is if her autos after activating q apply it multiple times as it is multiple hits.

are you sure? im not sure that's the case. I thought ashe DID have crit chance, her crits just multiply the slow instead of dealing bonus damage (given her bonus damage is applied to already frosted targets as she builds crit chance). Remember that just because there's a crit icon doesnt mean an attack or ability crits, riot often use it to add satisfaction and clarity to bonus damage amplification.

That's not how her passive works. Her attacks apply Frost which slows and causes subsequent hits to do bonus damage scaling with crit chance/crit damage multiplier. She still has standard crit chance, but instead of doing bonus damage it increases the slow from the Frost. It will still only apply the item burn on attacks that actually crit and apply that stronger slow, the only exception being her W which is a "cosmetic" crit that simply is there to show that her W always applies that stronger slow, but isn't actually a critical attack

No, Ashe critically strikes like any champion in the game, she simply deals no bonus damage when she crits and instead applies a stronger slow. To compensate the damage she deals bonus damage to Frosted enemies, which is further increased by crit chance and crit damage, but that doesn't mean it's a critical strike.

As far as I can tell, it just seems like it checks to see if both a crit has occurred and an on hit is applied in the same instance, and you *should* be able to just make a list of abilities that can do both? Like, it makes sense that Urgot W wouldn't apply, because while it applies on hits, it can never crit. On the flip side, it explains why Twitch R bullets and Hurricane projectiles both apply the burn, given that both sources can crit and apply on hits. Jinx rockets/Zeri Q only apply on hits to the primary target, so even though they can crit multiple, only the target that can be hit by both in the same instance would take the burn. A few of the comments seem to think it's just rolling the dice for each champion, but I think if you know how said champions work, you should be able to accurately guess which champions/items/abilities it works on pretty easily. The only ones I'm surprised about is Shaco Q not proccing unless it was a rolled crit rather than forced and Akshan 2nd auto, but I suspect that's just classic spaghetti code. dropped a longer reply in the comments somewhere, but basically Akshan and Shaco both have fake crits, even though the ability descriptions word it as if they are "real" crits, and every other ability worded that way function correctly

Yes on-hit effects + crit is the requirement (and Akshan and Shaco are not real crits which is very surprising as NCognito pointed out). Still, I think the most important result for gameplay from this video is that modifiers like Bel'Veth E and Aphelios Severum which normally balance the insane amount of attacks are not applied to the burn. This makes it very strong on these champions (and useless on everybody else). After testing 5 or 10 champions I probably could have just stopped and concluded that on-hit effects + crit is the requirement. After testing a few champions with modifiers I could have also concluded that all modifiers are not applied. But at that point I just wanted to show all interactions, especially the strong ones. Which is good, since otherwise I wouldn't have found Akshan who I tested almost last. Sadly, I was so sure that Akshan is a real crit that I just thought that there are some real crits who don't apply and that it is just kind of random, so I did not put on-hit effects and crit as a requirement in a final conclusion into the video.

Along your same lines of "If you know how they work", Shaco Q is a visual crit but not an actual critical strike. The most common example, mage spells with shadowflame ,'look' like crits, but really they are just damage modifiers and are not true critical strikes unless the attack itself was a crit. The only shockers in this video are the damage is not reduced by onhit reduction modifiers like belveth passive/e (This will likely be added before release or else this item will only be viable on like 3 champs and terrible for everyone else or viable for others and those champs will be permabanned) and that akshan passive does not work. Last one is just weird because it applies on-hit/on-attack effects and can critically strike, so there should really be no reason something like that wouldn't apply the effect twice.

Don't forget, we're back to our original Crit Damage bonus of 225% with Infinity Edge. Yasuo and Yone, Rengar and Tryn are going to see a significant uptick in play with those items to deal with slippery enemies. Rengar and Graves are going to be utilizing this item since their crits are stronger with their usual building lethality.

The clock in the top right is the ingame time which on the regular counts a second double, during this second tons of bugs happen.... This bug has existed since season one and is yet to be fixed... "Stacking" is a bit of a misconception and I think people are getting the wrong idea down here. It is moreso not overriding previous applications so you aren't punished for applying multiple instances. Each "stack" is treated individually and independent of others.

You can actually tell when ashe crits. The slow is bigger when the attack crits(the font tells that too). The damage modifier is a completely different thing. What we should test is if her q works (each individual bullet) since they are considered separately by crit chance and you can pretty much garantee the bigger slow with 25 crit on every auto

Yun tal procs on “Basic Damage” types, usually in the form of an auto, can apply on hit effects (the 1st condition usually guarantees they already do) and it must be able to crit/ have a crit modifier. If something doesn’t apply the burn that you thought would, then that something might be a different damage type that doesn’t work, doesn’t apply on hits or isn’t capable of crits. Sourced from the LoL fandom wiki. Edit: forgot to mention that a cosmetic crit doesn’t count (it is used for clarity on damage increase due to conditions within the ability itself), similar to Karthus’ Q on single targets and which should include shaco Q.

Rushing this right after a sheen on my jungle wukong has been insane. Finish it, finish trinity force, throw an infinity edge on top, and then last item is situational, either phantom dancer or blade of the ruined king. If im facing a WW jungle or a briar or yi, I build executioners calling right after the sheen, completely shuts down their healing. Finish it into mortal reminder as my situational item right after the infinity edge. Wukongs never felt so powerful lol.

The best use I can see of it over IE is on fast attacking champs fighting tanks with thornmail and randuins, you would rely less on high damage crits that would get blocked and reflected more by thornmail and instead you could stack more damage with a burn. I could be wrong though, would have to test.

People need to understand that while it has some really strong interactions, you should realize that with these interactions it might see some play and even then it gets outshined by a good number of other crit items (Especially IE). However if it doesn't stack, the item won't see play AT ALL, since the entire appeal of it was that it stacks a lot and does a good bit of DoT as well. People screaming to get this changed should realize the implications of it. The item ceases to see any real use if it gets changed.

Issue is this item is made for people who do multiple crits at a time realistically, hence Belveth and Ashe being decent candidates. Other crit champs kill you with the crit they have pretty quickly. So quickly that it really isnt worth getting the itme anyways and youd rather just get IE to one shot better.

Nope. Her passive is a separate form of crit. She can regularly crit with no extra dmg but a critical slow which they use for the effect. Also her Q only proce on-hit once.

I think this will be way stronger on rengar than people think. He can go Hubris into Yun Tal + Passive AD. His AD is so extremely high it will give really strong burn

No, they don't. The ability says it will deal bonus damage by the ability itself. Ashe used to have this interaction before people started spamming manamune on her because her q would deal 5+ procs of damage from the item. Yasuo r is just an ability, so it won't apply.
