I really frustrated 😔 today,,, when I used a word during a business meeting '' ✖️ minnetkarım" and it was wrong the correct word is "✔️minnettarım" and it is not commonly used ☹️ for appreciation
@yeldasahin93534 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely right. If you are an Arabic speaker, the word comes from Arabic word minne(t) (e.g. ene memnun). It means I am grateful. We use it when somebody do something really important for us as a favor when we really needed that favor and feel like we owe them. For simple things we just say "Teşekkür ederim" which is also Arabic. There is no Arabic verb in Turkish, but there are many Arabic nouns and we generally use an Arabic noun adding a Turkish verb, generally the verb et-. Some times other verbs for example with cevap (cevab) we say cevap ver- (give answer). We also use Sağ ol which is Turkish and literally means 'be well' (I wish you wellbeing or wellness) for the meaning of thank you.

I would like to add this comment: the Turkish people are some of the most forgiving and understanding people in the world. Studying the language again, I cringe thinking how badly we G.I.'s botched up their beautiful language. I'm sure they silently shook their heads in despair, but smiled through it.

I am a native Turkish speaker and I want to let know people who are trying to learn Turkish that this is very bad Turkish. Please don't learn anything from this video. These are literal translations from English, they are not natural and there are some mistakes.

We hardly ever use present simple on speaking language. For example you can't hear that ''Ben İstanbul'da yaşarım.'' ''Ne zamandır görüşmeyiz.'' when you speak with a Native Turkish speaker. If you listen them carefully you'll hear ''Ben İstanbul'da yaşıyorum.'', ''Ne zamandır görüşmüyoruz.'' But it's only on speaking language. If you want to write a formal mail or something or if you'll make a formal dialog, you'd better don't using them. I tried to translate it English I hope you understood. Good luck!
