Been driving by Mille lacs for at least 12 years to go to my cabin and still haven’t fished it. Now I have to stop and see if I can’t hook up to a pig like this too! Just so you know a 61.5” muskie was just electro fished there pretty recently too! Congrats Robbie!

This fish was referenced and shown in the beginning of "Chasing Record Muskies Part 1," which was uploaded last week on 11/16/2017. The footage here in this clip is from 11/6/2015 (two years ago). They were probably saving it to incorporate into the new show, especially if they didn't have any action on their recent trip.

you meant 50 inches? I didn't see you weigh it?
@sengx7 жыл бұрын
Steve Lyk I'm not sure if they had a cradle scale system or not but you don't really need a scale to guess a weight when you've fished a certain species your entire life. Lee has caught 50lbers before and can tell if a muskie is in the 50lb range. Its like me bass fishing, I've caught so many 5lb bass I know when a bass is 5lbs or bigger without using a scale.... all about experience.

They are not known for their endurance, can be fairly intense in the summer but overall a salmon could pull them backwards. Thrill of the hunt. Thanks for watching!

I fought a muskie for over 2 hours a few Summers ago, it was so big and powerful ended up having to cut the line, pulled our boat all over the lake. :)

Too many pictures of this fish while she was out of the water. You have HD video running--you have 30 pictures per second. Get a screen grab, or 100. There are your pictures. I get that the water temperature was cold. I know the whole "cold water has more dissolved oxygen than warm water" thing. But I also know a fair bit about physiology. She was out of the water too long, IMHO. Literature shows that game fish (not just musky) do experience cardiac arrhythmias following an angling event--and these can be fatal. So the fish swims away, and then dies a short time later. So after it's in the net, take the fish out of the net for one picture. Put it back into the net and wait a few minutes so she can re-oxygenate. Then if you need to bump-board her, take her back out of the water after she's re-oxygenated and you've gathered your wits. Fumble-farting around for the camera takes too much time. Put it back into the net. Great fish though--awesome job by Robbie on the catch/fight, and a great net job. Congratulations to you guys.
