I hardly think about romance when I watch TWD, because this show can crush everything pretty fast. They actually ripped my heart out when Beth got kidnapped and Daryl was all alone for those three minutes in that episode :D But if I'm honest I see more romance between these two than between him and Carol. For us those were 2 episodes for them that was a long time. I loved the fact that the writers paired Daryl with Beth after prison went down.. Because Beth brings something else out of him. Softer side. She's the only one who got under his skin.And I think that's why people ship them. Everyone loves a strong,leading man. But everyone loves him even more when he has a soft spot for one vulnerable girl. ;]

Sad thing is, I bet they're not even romantically interested in each other. I always root for the wrong pairings, so there's a good chance if I like a pairing, it's not happening. deana .folsom Barely knew each other? They were on a run for days before the whole "getting drunk and burning the house" scenario. Then notice how in "Alone" their outfits changed to a more warmer wear? That's because the season changed. They've been on a run for months. And if you haven't noticed the way he affected her, then you probably weren't paying attention. Heck, he even taught her how to shoot from HIS crossbow, when I don't think he ever let anyone else touch it. And correction, she WAS too childlike. You seriously didn't see her development? Well, I suppose you couldn't miss it in season 5 then. She is one of the main cast now. And I agree with you for the most part how he treated her back then and that it was indeed the alcohol influence that allowed him to open up. BUT haven't you noticed how open he was with her when he was sober? How after that little incident he treated her so much better, grew to care about her. The actors themselves have said several times that there's definitely a connection, that they care about each other very much, and that there is something special between them. Heck, Norman said she's like a light in the end of the tunnel for him. And think of it this way, if it wasn't for her, if she wasn't there, he wouldn't have opened up no matter how drunk he was. Sure it was also thanks to the alcohol, but she pushed him to open up when he was drunk. And ever since then, he was always more open with her. And it's thanks to her he's more open with others (I really don't think he would have ran and hugged Carol like that if it wasn't for Beth's influence on him). Plus, have you forgotten the "What changed you mind?" part?? He was signaling that SHE changed his mind, and how he was too modest to say it. Even AMC confirmed he has feelings for her. I appreciate your opinion, though. :)

From the people who like her most did it bbecause and even refered it, they started liking her once she was surviving paired up with Daryl. So, there's your why.

Yeah i think that since carol was abused by her husband she thought it was best to just let daryl verbally abuse her “to vent” but that didnt help him since his go to move is to deflect how hes feeling and placing the blame on the other person. Beth on the other hand, called him out on his bs when he tried to shift the attention to her she would flip it tight back to him until he broke down and spilled the beans. And since she also always tried to comfort him without making him feel like she was judging him thats why he ends up opening up about his past to her.😢😢😢😢😢😢

Beth and Daryl didn't even touched or complimented after in the hospital when she had already passed to the side of Rick's people. Not even a hello there. Nothing. The context was different then when he was reunited with Carol but... just rewatch and compare. Plus, he does interact with Carol after she is on Rick's side. Subtle but he does. Have to rewatch but I think he touches her in the shoulder or something like that as she is droven in the wheel chair. So yeahhh! Perfect way to shink the ship, for once and for all! Love this, literally crying over these two flippin characters. Today I watched the episode of Beth's death for the first time. I am 39 years old and have faced so many difficult challenges in life, and I never thought I would start crying like a baby over a TV show. I think Daryl represents all of us. Life is hard, life is bad, and it takes away the good things that used to be our hope. So we change, we become hard, our hearts become cold, and we experience the world with hardness and detachment. And we go on like this, feeling few emotions and thinking only about getting by, surviving. But then comes a beautiful soul, someone so special who can open the key to our heart and make us feel again, after a long time, the meaning of laughing, dreaming, loving ... living. All this was Beth for Daryl, and what happened in the episode dedicated to them is something that comes out of the script, it is a real feeling that reaches straight to their and our hearts. Their feeling was the 'emblem of pure love and sincere hope with which not to give in to the challenges and harshness of the world and life. I believe these are universal feelings that made their unfinished love not a movie but a noble and eternal feeling. That is why, even if you think I am crazy, I still want to say, "Goodbye Beth, you are an angel who flew to heaven and will forever remain in our hearts."

She's like 18/19 in this season, I thought Daryl was younger than what you said (thought he was like 35, or something like that! I know Norman is older.) There are so many couples in the world in which one in 20 years older than the other...so why not in this show? lol Anyway I'm a Bethyl fan (because I loved Beth so much), but I do LOVE Carol!! We aren't all stupid people which hate Carol/Melissa xD

I'm bawling my eyes out right now.... They had unexpected chemistry & character compatibility. It was different and awkward but exciting and just perfect. You never knew what these two would next. Where one of them lack is the other's strongest asset. They balance each other. Daryl was the mind and Beth was the heart. You did exactly what she said. The deaths that really affected Daryl were those of Glenn (his family), Rick (his brother) and Beth (his love). So, I do not give a fuck what some people say about Beth and Daryl (that he wanted her as a sister, as a friend ... the difference in age ... etc etc). DARYL AND BETH WERE THE BEST THING HAPPENED IN TWD, IT WAS TRUE LOVE, AND NORMAN SAID HIMSELF: DARYL LOVED BETH. These damned could have given us a few more episodes of love before snatching our hearts that way. He deserves more.

This could have actually become quite exciting to look forward to, if the fandom didnt get so crazy and powerful about the whole Daryl character already, which caused the writers´ passiveness about this... I think he admired her, for her quiet strength. She has that strength, it might not stand out and be as obvious like Carol's or Maggie's; but its a mighty one even in its subtlety. And I think he loved that, she held onto her humanity, her compassion, and her softness. She was warm and comforting, not hard, cold, and cynical like most of the people in that world became. She was idealistic and hopeful; traits he even himself was shedding due to the realistic world they lived in now. She was in ways opposites to him, and he looked to it and wanted her to keep that part of herself. So he cradled with care for as long as he could, her spirit. She was genuine. I didn't per-say want them to get together. I hadn't really thought about romance (crazy since I'm a hopeful romantic) because of just all the chaos and evil going on around this group. But they made room for Maggie and Glenn, so why not another couple? I truly wish they hadn't taken Lori from Rick. Rick needs his wife, (who doesn't need their spouse? kinda dumb comment there.) ... but I just really wish they hadn't taken her from the show. Personally my favorite character is Daryl so I don't have to go into how wonderful he is ^_^

They were our favorite characters. There was NEVER going to be anything with Carol. She is like an older sister or even mother figured to him. She treats him like a big kid. Sometimes she makes fun of him. And no one has stood up to Daryl like Beth did. That showed him she respected him but wasn't going to let him get away with shit. She and Daryl developed a deep bond in those few days together. He opened up to her as he never did to anyone else. Carol is simply not a romance for him. Beth is no longer a child. She is a grown woman, as Norman himself has admitted on the subject in many interviews. He admits Daryl and Beth were developing a relationship that could have blossomed if she not been killed. He never mentions his developing a relationship with Carol in interviews. In fact, when asked, it makes him uncomfortable. Carol would be all wrong for him. While she is tough, she can not be trusted. She doesn't think things through. She kills innocents because she has that mind set me before them. Rick didnt' trust her and threw her out. Sure Daryl was mad at first. But he recovered pretty quickly. He understood. He was just disappointed Rick didn't wait until he got back to make that decision. I think, he felt betrayed Rick didn't wait on him. Daryl wanted to protect Beth. He was shy with her at first, like a boy with his first crush. Then as his feelings develops for her, he becomes more concerned for her welfare, sometimes lashing out in anger when his feelings over whelm him. Instead of backing away from him or telling him to flip off, she sees the feelings for what they are and hug him, making him feel loved and needed. I think the producers saw the connection and were afraid to develop a love interest for Daryl in Beth. They were afraid of what his fans would say. When news gets to Beth and Carol that someone has come for them, she asks about Daryl first. Carol doesn't. When Daryl gets to the hospital he asks for Beth, not Carol. Proof right there people! Beth. Not Carol. Then when Dawn's knee jerk reaction kills Beth, Daryl face twists in rage. He steps forward and without a thought shoots her in the head. He wasn't going to shoot anyone else though many people thought Carol's hand on his shoulder prevented mass murder. No. He stepped away slightly, and went over to Beth, tenderly picking her up and carrying her outside. He was crushed. He found her only to lose her. It was so stupid having Beth stab Dawn. She would have NEVER done that except for Daryl. This is not a fight or an argument. The facts of the relationship with Beth were clearing stating why Daryl loved Beth and vice versa. There is no reasonable argument for Daryl and Carol. They are friends. But not as close as he and Rick. The hug he giver Carole when she returns is one of reuniting with a loss friend. He is glad she is safe, but knew all along she would be because she can take care of herself. Beth had much to learn about that. She still believed in good people, which is something Carol has lost. She is a person I think Rick will never trust again. She is too much like a big sister or mother to be in a relationship with Daryl. It is just gross. If that ever happens I will stop watching the show, it would gross me out that much.
