Rick did not shoot one bullet because he still respected herschells rules but when the time had come and nobody else had the guts to release sophia rick stepped up and did what a real leader has to do.... in my opinion just a badass move

Notice how Shane couldn't even shoot her. He was hard until she came out the barn and Rick did what had to be done.

Bear McCreary made some of the best scores in television history and the score when Sophia comes out of the barn remains in my top 3 favorite scores of the show.

For me when Sophia comes out of the barn,a Zombie,its as creepy as when Roger comes back to life in DAWN OF THE DEAD.Imagine how scared Sophia was when Rick left her in the swamp,telling her he’d be back to get her when all he had to do was throw her over his shoulder and carry her to safety.His gun hand would have been free to kill any approaching Walkers.The bite on her shoulder told you that she’d have been running around that swamp wounded and scared.It would have been a terrible death.💀

Yeah that was one super stupid move Rick made. There are a few but that one is FRUSTRATING. He didnt even need to carry her. They just needed to get back to the group. But he stopped and abandoned her and I dont care who says different, he DIDNT HAVE TO.

​@Nathan-h5i I don't think it was a stupid move. It was neither Rick or Sophia's fault. They were running and he had to think fast on his feet. He told her that he gets winded and the zombies don't and simply needed to draw them away because he couldn't keep carrying Sophia back round to the highway. Yes, he didn't have to carry her but simply running holding hands isn't very effective either because if she got tired (which she did), he would have to carry her anyway. In dangerous situations like that, no one can make clear decisions alot of the time when your life is in danger. I think a lot of people are quick to judge situations when they are safe in their home behind a screen. 🤷‍♂️

And, uh, HOW many bullets did he have? There was just a whole horde of Walkers they'd been trying to hide from. Him shooting at however many he would kill with his remaining bullets would attract more as he tried to run while carrying a child. No, that would not have worked. If he put her down to fight off what was coming (there was no way he could've known how many he would encounter), then he'd have to keep them away from himself AND Sophia. She'd panic, probably scream, possibly attracting even more. What did he have to fight them off with? Sticks? Rocks? He didn't have a weapon other than a gun and that would last as long as however many bullets he had. Then what? They'd run. She'd fall behind. If he picked her up he wouldn't be able to run very fast or far that way. No, he did what he thought of at the time. Also, there was the fact that the actress who played Sophia no longer wanted to be on the show. They could've recast, but that wouldn't have been good.

This was heartbreaking for the fans who loved the walking dead cause sophia dying in the show after mid 2nd season cause the viewers hoped she would be found alive not dead and a walker. The 2nd heartbreakibg death is when beth died in the hospital in atlanta cause when daryl carried her out everybody was heartbroken real bad from beths death especially maggie cause that was her little sister since she was young even though they had different mothers cause when u grow up with half siblings with a different mother or father but u knew each other since a young age and they die suddenly it's devastating grief makes u not want to go on anymore and in twd universe u lose ur family in a blink of an eye is really devastating grief alot of ppl lose there will to keep going on living.

When i watched this show for the first time i didnt really like Shane that much , and i still dont like him that much today cause it’s hard for me to like a man who slept with hus best friend’s wife , but i gues i can give Shane a bit respect cause he was pretty good at knowing hiw to survive , he knew what needed to be done in order to survive , he might have been a bad guy but he was a pretty good character too. Rick on the other hand , i love Rick but i gues i can admit that he was maybe a bit naive in season 1 and 2 , he shouldnt have played along with Hershel’s game that “walker’s are alive/people”.

Agreed.While I understand that Rick was trying to keep his people at the farm,it took Shane shooting that Zombie several times and it STILL wouldn’t go down until he killed it by shooting it in the head,to wake Herschel up from his delusion.Herschel believed they were sick people,and even when Rick tried to tell Herschel in his kitchen that they weren’t,Herschel wasn’t having it.Whether you liked Shane or not,it woke Herschel up.And why didn’t Rick just sling Sophia over his shoulder and carry her out of that swamp? He’d have still had his gun hand free to kill Walkers that came at him,and Sophia wouldn’t have weighed that much.Her death was on him.

It didn’t make any sense telling her to hide.She was scared shitless,plus these Zombies were called WALKERS.They weren’t RUNNING ZOMBIES like in the DAWN OF THE DEAD remake.Sophia’s death made no sense,then it was dragged out for weeks with search parties looking for her.

This isn't the saddest moment. When Carl dies or when Rick blows up the bridge and Darryl cries or when Glen foes....this was the least sad episode. Sophia had no lines. She was like an NPC.

So.....whoever made this only watched TWD through season 2? Because I can think of 4 things SO MUCH SADDER without trying. (Spoilers) Glens death, Abrahams death, Beth's death, and far and away the SADDEST THING EVER FILMED FOR TELEVISION....... Carl Grimes shooting himself. THAT is the saddest. That pop from outside that church watching Rick and Michonne react to it.

For me it wasnt sad at all, the show dragged on finding her for the same amount of time the first season was combined. Half the people almost died because of that. Clearly she couldnt have been alive and the whole running away was so stupid.

She’s a 12 old little girl who was scared for her life and she wasn’t raised to be tough like Carl so her actions were justified and the only person that almost died was Daryl

@KJCK4 Didn't and doesn't change the drag of the show although it was still very good when it wasn't all about her. She was definitely treated like a 5 year old though, never seen a 12 year old having a plushie and carrying it everywhere...but then again the father was a pos.

Dary and carol relationship, rick and shane ideology and lori pregnancy problem is all making the searching of sophia is not waste of time. It is fit in the theme and the narative. So sorry if you do not understand. I am not good in english and i am do not realy know anything about writing and storytelling but this is my opinion.
