Yeager: Wrong. At one time people argued RDS's were a fad on rifles. Now where are we today? RDS's haven't evolved to a point that they're practical on pistols - yet. We're close. The ACRO was a step in the right direction and the Holosun HE509T is another step in the right direction. Once pistol RDS's are small enough with a good field of view, enclosed so elements aren't a factor (like the ACRO And 509T) and battery life is measured in years vs. hours or months, they will become a standard. Just like iron sights are back-ups now on rifles and not generally considered primary sights, the same will become true of RDS's on handguns. John is 100% right, he's teaching the future.

MAC - I was running red dots on rifles BEFORE KZbin or Military Arms Channel existed. I NEVER said not to use Dots Sights on rifles. (I only said EOTech's were shit 10 years before the rest of the world figured it out.) As far as pistols I have trained 83,000 people and have had over 50 in gunfights. They ALL won without a dot sight. Dots have their place but people buy them like they did lasers 10 years ago...like it will make them a better shooter. It will NOT.

Based on my extensive training I've found that diving to the prone position while firing at a bad guy allows me to smoke him first almost every time. It's taken me hours of practice and in real firefights in Call of Duty Modern Warfare to perfect this technique. It does require the appropriate perk to do this though, otherwise you will either have to fire before going prone or fire after having gone prone. But if you want to smoke check fools, this is the way. I brought this up at a Warrior Poet training class and the noobs laughed at me.

If it will make 100% sense when they explain it in the class, then someone should just explain it. Then, I would think we can all know and be cool together. But, I get it, you can only know if you took the class. It's impossible to use the English language to convey the idea, unless you take the class.

Dynamic takeoff from the X, coupled with simultaneous draw and shoot seems to be the red pill almost nobody in the self defense community will buck up and swallow. Yet a single afternoon of properly structured, context-correct Force-on-Force drills make it obvious to just about anyone as to why it's an essential gunfighting skill. Or at least anyone who doesn't cling to square range prejudices. SMH.

Thanks so much guys! Especially the part on us class participants going and teaching others. John, we met last December and that was the one question I forgot to ask you. In my circle of friends and family up here in Maine I really am a “shooting/self-defense expert” to them. I have taught dozens of people how to safely handle handguns and rifles and I take that “responsibility” that seems to have landed on me super seriously. That’s partly why I take the classes. Like it or not, I’m the only “instructor” most of them will ever have. I’m glad no one feels it’s an automatic disservice to those people if we take it upon ourselves to teach them, but I know it’s with the caveat that I take MY training super seriously, and focus on teaching the safe-handling systems until I feel they are competent in those enough to start other skills. And of course I encourage everyone to take classes from guys like you if they can. I was real glad to hear you guys talk on that, because you were describing me. I do not call myself any kind of accredited instructor, but I take teaching others very seriously.

I have watched hundreds of hours of 2A youtube content and have never felt as inspired to improve myself in all aspects of life as I am RIGHT NOW. And I whole heartedly believe James drew the conversation that sparked that. And I’ve never heard of him before today. I read he passed on somewhat recently and already can tell that was a huge loss for the 2A community and the world in general. Thanks for the content, fellas. God bless.

This collaboration NEEDS to be more frequent both of you combined are a "FORCE" to be reckoned with. I feel God blessed you both with a golden tongue and what you use it for matters. Mr. John and Mr. Yeager this is healthy love and brother hood. Another thing I will be learning from you two gentleman/Teachers. Proverbs 18:20-21 From the fruit of their mouth a person’s stomach is filled; with the harvest of their lips they are satisfied. 21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.🤟🏻

I'll add something about the grip tightness thing. I noticed when I shoot my 9mm I can be pretty accurate with a relatively loose grip, but with 7.62x25 I have to grip a lot tighter to get good accuracy. Probably has to do with the difference in bullet velocity.

Both sides have their points. However, I’m going to tend to listen more to the guy that has more training and experience in being in actual gunfights than I am going to listen to a guy that has more years of training people on what he “thinks” works better.
