I recently purchased the same 50's spec Les Paul as in your review. It was set up with Plek at point of purchase. I am very pleased with the overall quality and playability of this guitar, and have no regrets. It is a great looking guitar. Thumbs up from me.

Hi Jimmy. Thank you for your thorough review of the Epi LP 50s model. I heard some of the QC horror stories but took a chance and ordered one from American Musical. Just received it today and I literally can't find anything wrong with it. The quality and finish are beautiful and it plays great right out of the box. Haven't encountered any fret issues or any dead frets. And the 50s style neck is just right! I got really lucky with this one and couldn't be any happier. Definitely a keeper.

Today I received mine, and although I have “big” hands (I think so jeje), it’s being a little hard to me playing the guitar. I have had two Epi’s LP; one with “D” profile an the other one with “C Slim” profile and this “C” 50’s neck profile is notorious fatter than the other ones. I think I only have to take the time to habituate my hands to this new shape (I hope so). Putting aside this, it’s really a great guitar, the clean sound with the neck pickup it’s AMAZING!!, and I haven’t had fret issues.

There is no horrible stories it's the Gibson boys they know now the have competition the Majority of these delusional people are Gibson fanboys that's all and what they don't get is Les Paul was associated with Epiphone also from 1940 until his death in 2009 he also worked on his solid body guitar AKA the Log that eventually became his Les Paul guitar in the Epiphone factory in Manhattan Ny Epiphones history is incredible 1873 to present Gibson has taken credit for many things they didn't actually do like the open book headstock they didn't design that the invention of the Electric guitar back in 1931 was a joint venture with Rickenbacker Epiphone and Gibson as a matter of fact the leader of this was Rickenbacker

Not sure who’s posting the horror stories. I’ve bought 6 Epiphone 2021 guitars this year ( sad but true!😉) and I’ve been really pleased with the quality. I have been reserving a goldtop to get a Gibson but I played once recently and the build quality and finish was appalling. So now I’ll get a 6 Epiphone: a 50’s standard goldtop.

@@deputyfestus4163 it’s dishonest to say that there’s no horror stories. there’s been plenty of reports of finish blemishes or bubbling, protruding fret ends, uneven frets, and headstock breaks. to be fair, the headstock breaks are due to the headstock angle, and is common of lots of other brands, but more so on gibsons/epiphones. the sharp/uneven frets are inexcusable though. if it was 2 or 3 hundred, it’d be whatever, but they’re between 5 and 7 hundred depending on where you get it, and at that price, getting cut by frets is just not okay. i would hope that since we’re nearly 3 years out from the release of these, that they’ve improved the quality control

I’m guessing I lucked out. I wanted a backup guitar to my Heritage H-150, but something in the more affordable range. This guitar had me sold right away. I can’t believe the quality and playability for the price. Sure, it’s not quite as nice as my Heritage, but it’s a plenty adequate guitar. I say I lucked out, because I’ve seen a couple of reviews mentioning production blemishes. I have scoured every inch of mine, and found no such dodgy craftsmanship. It seems the QC is hit and miss, but I can say from experience that sometimes it’s an absolute hit.

It appears all the Epiphones have closer spacing of the pups vs Gibson. It’s apparent when looking at the distance of bridge pup from the bridge that is one of the primary reasons an Epi will never sound like a Gibson even when using the same pups. Very disappointing
@xxxxneoxxxx4 жыл бұрын
It's true. Spacing is different. I noticed that when I installed a set of Gibson pickups on my Epi. I don't know about it sounding like a Gibson or not... But to be honest, I don't much care. It sounds damn good as it is.

Honestly.... am I the only one who doesn’t mind having to get a $50 setup if everything else on the guitar is awesome...? I’ve bought a much more expensive guitar that also required a setup.

Unless you're incredibly lucky, or buying a custom guitar, EVERY guitar needs a fret level/recrown/polish upon delivery. This should be an expectation of every guitar player. To think otherwise is to live in la-la land.
