A little more information, In 1954 and 1955 Fender used Alnico 3 magnets, when they changed to Alnico 5 in 56, the combination of Alnico 5 (which is brighter sounding than Alnico 3) and Maple fretboards (which is brighter sounding than Rosewood) gave that snappy trebly tone that some love. In the 60s the Rosewood fretboard and Alnico 5 magnets balanced each other out perfectly. The first ever recorded Strat was Pee Wee Craytons recording of Do Unto Others in 1954 using the Alnico 3 magnet pickups. I personally think Alnico 2 or 3 and Maple sound great together. Kind of the best of both worlds.

My preference was always for the 60s models , particularly the early 60s and the slab boards . But I own a 1999 US Standard in Olympic white and I absolutely love it . I've owned it since new and it's always been my favourite guitar , even when I had the Gibson SG Standard in 2005 and a Les Paul custom in 2012 which I sold on after a year due to the damn weight and arthritis . I think the Stratocaster is the greatest design of guitar ever created . So comfortable to play , both standing and seated , good upper fret access and look at the legends that have played one , from Hendrix and Beck to SRV and Fruiscante , and Mayer to Dave Murray and Janick Gers of Iron Maiden , Knoffler , Eric Johnson , Clapton , Blackmore , Hank Marvin, Rory Gallacher , Buddy Guy , the list goes on and on . What I do like about the 50s models is the V shaped neck .

Strat is incredible but nothing can compete with a Custom 24, at least in my opinion. Best feeling and playing guitar I've ever picked up. The Strat twang is nice, though.

@@Lovell93 I would love to own a custom 24 10 top , it's one guitar I've not owned yet . I had an SE a couple of years back , on a long term loan . It was really nice , but I think the US models will be a good jump up from that .

@@TheSavagederek I'm with you on both accounts here. I play my Strat more than the Les or Tele. I have shrapnel all up and down my spine and major damage to my right lower flank, (side). When I love the difference in sounds but without thought I will pick up the Strat 9 out of ten times to noodle on. The tummy cut is all the difference I think.

@@kentuckywindage222 I get you mate . My lower spine the disks have all but gone and the sciatic nerve gets trapped or irritated as they say now , and I think the Ulnar nerve , but I might be wrong on that one as I always forget it . I've no curve in my lower back and have Astio Arthritis as well as some Rumethoid in my hands and ankle where I broke it years back . I damaged the rotary cuff in my left shoulder , which they think , could have been caused via my first COVID vaccination shot and the Doc jabbing into the muscle , causing damage . It's a vet I need , not a doctor 🤣 . When you say shrapnel , were you injured on duty ?

@@TheSavagederek Gotcha there. Probably cheaper. Just left one and put on a med that is 580 dollars. Now, I quit taking it because of the price and my diabetes went bonkers. So I tell the doc and she is upset. I see it in her face and actions. She says we'll I'll put you on this one. So I call the pharmacy after home to compare the price of the one I quit taking, to the new one. The new one is 580 dollars?! I tell you it is crazy. I can't take the cheap one most take. Like 25 cents a pop, I had an allergic reaction to it. She says your blood pressure is up. I figure yes! Going to the doctor, (I take only Tylenol for pain) in pain, knowing I'm going to be put on another med etc. Yep, blood pressure will be up. 580 for 30 pills? Around 19 dollars a day or per pill?! I would think it is from the fountain of youth at that price. I need to pick up a guitar quick, because it helps my stress. As a kid around 21, an older gentleman told me something I should've listened closer to. He said, "The most money to be made is from the misfortune of other's" . He was spot on. I was to slow to understand what he was telling me. Not to bright is part of my problem!🤣

I've always loved the 50's maple neck look and feel, but these days I've been drifting more towards the 60's for the sound. There's something about the low end thump and growl the 60's pickups with the rosewood. For me, a nice V neck with rosewood and some 60's pickups would be my dream setup.

I like the Original 50's with colours and tones but it's just the neck profile I don't like. I've gone away from Soft V and even Modern C I thought it was what I liked, but it doesn't feel like the Silver Sky necks. Going to try some of those D American strat necks. The best thing about the budget players is more the options with finishes, You get like 8 choices? I would never buy a American Strat with Indian Laurel.

You should do a demonstration on 70s Stratocaster and if there's a 80s Stratocaster I like to see those demonstrations as well as the telecasters a 70s telecaster and instead you can find an 80s Telecaster that it'd be nice to see also
