@@leopotter7953 I'm exactly like you. I also don't have any friends and even if I did have before (still not very many) I many times felt like awkward or like an outsider. I don't even want alot of friends, even if I just had one friend in real life I would be very happy. I just have hard time connecting with people but also opening up because I'm scared of being judged for who I am. Harry Potter is my favorite series and seeing that the main character of Fantastic Beasts might have Autism makes me proud to be who I am. Honestly, the world needs people who are different from the rest. One of my favorite quote is "no one ever made a difference by being like everyone else." In this world people need to stand out to make it. Take Greta Thunberg for example. I'm Swedish just like her which makes me also proud!
@frannydavis52324 жыл бұрын
Same. I've always felt very different from everyone at school, and even though I technically have a "friend group", I don't feel like I'm an important part of it. I feel like the people who say they are my friends only say that because they don't want me to feel bad, which is nice, but it makes me feel alienated. I don't mind not having friends but it does bother me when people say they're my friend but never talk to me and when they do talk to me they treat me like a baby. And I feel just like Newt because of his love for magical creatures and I love reptiles and other animals that most people find weird or scary. I don't care as much for getting along with other people, I'm more focused on what makes me happy which is my pets. People find me annoying because I talk about my pet reptiles a lot and make annoying sounds, I guess. But having a Harry Potter character that I can actually relate to makes me feel better about myself and like I don't have to be like everyone else to be a good person. I'm also a Hufflepuff :)

I can see that newt seems autistic but there's so many things wrong with this video: The puzzle piece symbolising autism is made by autism speaks, a very hurtful company that claims to protect autistic people while doing the opposite: dehumanizing autistic people calling them ruined and promoting violent methods to "handle" autistic people. Using the rainbow infinty symbol is better. Autism awareness was also made by autism speaks, and a lot of autistic people prefer autism acceptence or appreciation. Most people already know of autism but dosent accept it which make autism awareness useless. High functioning and low functioning labels are also hurtful and wrong, many prefer high need and low need to be used instead. Still thanks for making this video, ignoring these things it was really good /gen :D

@@yderga8707 that’s cool that you disagree and all but the general public needs to listen to the majority of autistic culture regarding autism and the majority says that functioning labels are harmful because day time day needs can be different and for all you know, you’re mostly masking most of the time or maybe you’re in an environment that isn’t harmful to you personally but for a lot of autistic people, most environments are harmful in different ways which can have us depicted as “high/low functioning” when were really not and just overwhelmed by sensory input or are really good at masking to the point of they almost never unmask and therefore don’t feel the consequences that can come with masking.

Interesting theory. I personally thought he is an introvert. And this funny behavior is, I thought, because of the animals, he wants them to gain trust by behaving like them🤔.
@signalfire153 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. He seems like he approaches humans in the same way that he approaches his creatures. He tends not to make eye contact so as to appear non-threatening. He didn’t really strike me as socially awkward, he made good connections with everyone around him. He just believes that people find him annoying. I’d think he’s just an introverted Hufflepuff. Or an INFP personality type.
@rachelcookie3213 жыл бұрын
He can be an introvert and be autistic. Not all people with autism are low functioning and show that they’re autistic. I’m high functioning and most people don’t know I have autism because I mask. Most of the time you’ll think I’m just an introvert with social anxiety, which I am but I also have autism, I think his obsession with magical creatures is another autistic trait as many people with autism have special interests which is something they really get into and know a lot about.
@signalfire153 жыл бұрын
@@rachelcookie321 How do you know that most people don't know you are autistic? Most people aren't going to ask if you are autistic or have a conversation with you about it, but that doesn't mean that they don't notice. And most people will tell you "really? I had no idea" or "I couldn't tell, you seem normal to me" when you tell them that you're autistic. They're just trying to be nice. I went to a salon the other day and there was a girl there that I'm positive was high functioning autistic but I didn't talk to her about it... Also, most people have special interests. What makes Newt's enthusiasm for creatures different from Hagrid's enthusiasm for creatures or different from a rabid sports fan's enthusiasm for sports or different from any person who has a passion in life?
@rachelcookie3213 жыл бұрын
@@signalfire15 because for most of my life no one knew I had autism. It wasn’t something that had crossed anyone’s mind because I looked and acted normally. When I got older though I started having meltdowns and that was what led to me being diagnosed. My parents has no idea, my friends had no idea before this. Everything I do that is autistic, I do inside my head. I hide these things from the world. If I hadn’t had meltdowns I probably would of never been diagnosed. My school councillor suggested I might have autism so I got tested and during the test I answered with the things I do inside my head and that’s how I got diagnosed. I could of answered not honestly and hid the stuff I did in my head and I wouldn’t of been diagnosed with autism because my actions weren’t obvious. Also not all high functioning autistic people are the same. You don’t just have high functioning and low functioning, it’s a whole spectrum. So the girl you saw was likely lower functioning than me because I’ve honestly never met anyone as high functioning as me. I broke down due to stress in year 9 and if it wasn’t for that, I likely wouldn’t of been diagnosed. You can definitely see a difference between Hagrid and Newt when it comes to their interest in magical animals. Hagrid loves animals, he cares for them and learns about them but they’re just like family members to him, Newt has an obsession with magical creatures, he’s made his whole life about learning about them and caring for them. Hagrid would still be Hagrid without the animals but Newt would be no one without them, he built his whole life around them.
@signalfire153 жыл бұрын
@@rachelcookie321 I disagree about Newt. I don’t think he would be nothing without his creatures. Most creative people’s lives revolve around their careers because their careers are usually their passions. For example, a writer is usually obsessed with their writing. A musician is usually obsessed with their music. But there is nothing about Newt’s obsession with creatures that is different from any other person’s obsessions with their passions / career. I would believe Newt had an unhealthy special interest or obsession if he was unable to form friendships or bonds with other people and only bonds with creatures. But that has not been the case. Newt didn’t fit in and believes people find him annoying but he has managed to do well in human relations despite his special interest. He was able to befriend Jacob quickly, befriend Queenie, fall in love with Tina and Leta, and repair his relationship with Theseus (who does not seem to dislike Newt as much as Newt believes). I don’t view Newt’s special interest in creatures to be much different than Hagrid’s. He’s a magizooligist and his his career depends on him writing textbooks on these creatures that he loves. It makes sense for him to be an tremendous amount of effort into it. But he is still balanced. What do you think?

The puzzle pieces at the beginning are annoying though... That's not the symbol used for autism anymore because we're not broken or unsolvable. Plus it's used by a hate group against autistic people that promotes torture as a way of "healing autism". The "high function" tag is also outdated because its really ableist
