Hello everyone. Today we'll be going back to visit Tomb Raider 3. Not a
game I've featured a lot on the channel, but certainly one that I have
fond memories of, as it was one of the very first games I got with my
PlayStation 1.
I was never that good at the game, so I spent most of my time at Croft
Manor, which is technically like a training stage, but there's a bit
more to this level than just that.

Something interesting about Lara's closet in her room. TR2's version of Lara's House has that closet with a lock/key that isn't in the level. In the game's final level Home Sweet Home there's a larger interior closet inside filled with firearms. Which implies that Lara essentially remodelled her closet to be smaller for some reason between TR2/TR3 However a youtuber named Contrawolf discovered that if you hack the Home Sweet Home key into Lara's inventory on the Lara's Home level in TR2, you can actually open the door. And it reveals a small narrow closet identical to the TR3 version with nothing in it. Implying that when the developers made TR3 they just used the TR2 Lara's House level as a base and forgot that Home Sweet Home's version had a larger closet.

This video made me feel so fucking old. Games today are so huge that it feels like you could play them forever. But when we were young games were so much smaller but our imagination made them feel huge. Without the internet we were left to go wild and think about things that seems so uninteresting today. If you told most younger games today that you dreamed about getting on the roof of the TR house they would think you were boring AF. But I remember talking to my friends endlessly at school about the most simple things but they felt magical because no one knew how to get there; but there was always 'a friend of a friend' who know how to do it. The friend who knew how to unlock Mew. My uncle who works at Nintendo who knows how to unlock Luigi in SM64.

People would lie and people would be lied to and spread it but it kept us wondering about a fantasy that we may one day accomplish. It gave us something to look forward to and to be hopeful and smile about on rainy days on our consoles as we tried our best and tried to remember what our friends told us. It gave us experiences to revel and memories to cherish now. And sometimes... they were right. Then there were cool things to brag about. That one secret being true kept us hooked, ready for the next thing to ponder and expand way beyond its intent and turn into something magical, especially in the infancy of the Internet, that became like the school lunch room with rumors

This video was awesome! Thank you so much! There were a couple of things here that I didn't know about. I spent hours as a kid scouring Croft Manor for secrets and glitches. The way I always got up to the roof was by the zip line. It puts you up on a red square that you can jump to the roof from. I always loved Tomb Raider III the most. The game just seemed more mysterious than the others. The atmosphere is just amazing.

If i ever won the lottery, i'd recreate two things in real life... first, the house in the first level of "Heavy Rain" just for me personally, and second: PS1 Croft Manor. With the pool, climbing course and the race track. For Tomb Raider fans who want to stay for a weekend. A butler (not as creepy, i swear he was the first stalker in my life...) taking care of them and the best food there is.

He'll actually open the door. (that's a meat freezer by the by) 14:48 lolz Welcome to #TextureHell. 15:32 The invisible skybox ceiling. 17:44 Lara's scream indicates she's falling too far, but it's not based on calculations. It's scripted and sometimes, the script is run when not needed. There's some examples where Lara falls, and screams, but lands (even if partially) on something that prevents a lethal fall. Sometimes, she doesn't scream at all, and when landing, the fall is lethal (not taking other factors into consideration). Yes, there's a few areas where she screams but then, she's saved by some *_deus ex machina_* (i.e. the flooded spillway at the beginning of the Subway map). 18:16 Definitely too shallow, unless you're under 40 inches in height and less than a hundred pounds. Even then, not a risk I'd take. 18:42 Standard script for $NO_KEYITEM or $WRONG_KEYITEM (not the actual names of the pointers but you get the idea). 20:34 If Winston is around, he'll move the book back into place, and the fire will relight. Be careful. 24:52 It gives you all key items. As Mr. Postal would say, "BUTTSAUCE." lmfao 26:20 About as likely as there being a similar leaderboard for Bejeweled 1 high scores. lolz 32:04 I mean, it's not exactly true-to-life, but in other maps, *BOOM!* lolz (vehicles actually don't just explode when submerged in water) 34:14 Well, yeah, that's a good way to go *BOOM* in real life, lolz 39:26 You said you would love to have an aquarium like this in your residence. No, you don't, especially not an oceanic aquarium; they're really taxing to maintain and one of the size that Lara has is most certainly high-cost maintenance. You'd also have to ensure structural integrity because oceanic water is very corrosive. You don't want one below the rest of your residence. ... The Tomb Raider games are great. Challenging at times though, especially when the controls are uncooperative. Just be glad Lara has an aimbot (autoaim), because that's one of the few equalizers the game gives ya. Hiihiihii...

It was fun but I think you spent too much time on doing a walkthrough rather than showing us things we might not know. But I did learn a few things - like which square precisely spawns Winston or the super shortcut for the racetrack :D
