Great tips! The number one tip for gaff tape is not all gaff tape is the same. Cheaper gaff tape doesn't stick to everything and will fall off and not support weight like duvetyne. If you spend $20.00 or more per roll, it usually means it's a quality roll. The number two tip for gaff tape is buy one quality roll for yourself and one cheap roll for everyone else, because everyone will "borrow" your tape on set. Gaff tape tip not aforementioned: When filming a scene with picture frames, often a reflection from the glass will show crew or the camera. You can remove the glass from the picture frame, but an easier and faster method is to wad a two gaff balls & place them under each corner of the picture frame to divert the reflection, while having the frame still look normal. White paper tape (similar to gaff tape), is often used on slates to prevent important information from accidentally being wiped off, if the dry-erase marks get bumped. Camera tape (1") is used for actors. Traditionally, the lead actor gets red camera tape, then blue, then other colors, but the colors have changed. Roll XLR cables around the boom pole in a spiral pattern, no gaff needed. Haha, KZbinSpaceLA. I use ½" conduit inside ¾" all the time! (I drilled holes for cotter pins, but gaff tape works too). I have taped many an apple box together with gaff, even a platform of apples, (although I added sand bags to the perimeter for added safety).

#43 (7:02), that's one jaw-dropping capture! Someone who isn't into gear nor technology AT ALL probably don't get the same feels, but i was twisting my face to all directions when looking at that. Gotta love the spirit of the photographer, just tape it and get back to it. That's right! To be fair, someone in that line of work probably knows what they're getting into. That it's just a matter of time. Makes for great footage, no doubt. I wonder did he manage to trigger any shots of the impact? Additionally, i also wonder was the horse simply too fed up to the glamour, and went for the solution with style? All will be revealed in due time.

I'm an audio/video installer/integrator which really has nothing to do with production or studios but I can't tell you how many times gaffers tape has come in handy or saved the day. Securing cables to the backs of TVs or displays alone is a good reason to keep a roll or two on the vans.

you can make a daisy. It's similar to your #9. When you have larger rectangular filters you can wrap tape around your lens leaving slack. Then you cut slits along the slack and you can push your filter against the tape. It looks like a daisy i guess. Use yellow gaff tape for kicks.

I used Gaff tape to temporarily hold my cars headlight and side marker lenses in place after a minor accident until I was able to fix them "properly". When I removed the tape 2 days later, there was no residue on the paint or the plastic lenses. Now I keep some in my car as well as regular duct tape.

#24 #33 Absolutely no wrapping of gaffa around cables.
@TheSlantedLens3 жыл бұрын
Also known as Gaff or Gaffer tape.
@Anvilshock3 жыл бұрын
I see anyone using gaffa to tape cables to rigs, pods, or whatever, or to bundle them, they get a dress-down. That's what electrical tape is for. (Exception: reinforcement on top of electrical tape) I see anyone using gaffa tape to tape cables lengthwise, I fire them from the set or stage immediately. Get a proper mat and tape the mat, never the cable. Because one, after being stepped on for the duration of the event, the gum eventually does transfer from tape to cables, leaving a colossal mess on them, and two, those who do that are the same morons that during breakdown just tear the mess by the cable, not the tape, making the tape wrap around the cable completely, leaving an even bigger and nastier mess.
