Thanks for the review, exact one I was looking for! A7R5 owner with deep Nikon roots. If I switched back, the Z7iii will prob better suit me (with full articulating screen). The Z8 also has no physical settings recall (m1, m2, etc.). A7RV can also shoot 26mp in Crop Mode giving every lens an instant 1.5x TC feature (allows my 400mm to instantly hit 600).

Just look at the fabric detail. Not even close.

Shot the Nikon D780 DSLR. Learned on a Nikon F2 35mm film camera. Glad to see that it is a comparable camera.

Isn't there a sixth thing? The ambient light in the Core shadow area? Or if it's not called ambient light, then reflected light...

I would have matched the rim light with the spot to make it look more like motivated light from the background's sun.

Great short video, Jay! You've effectively covered a classic technique in a minute that would have taken others at least an hour. Love the images! 😃

"If you don't agree with me, then you probably don't know what you're doing"! 😂 Oh I love the honesty there! Not something you hear every day. I will say that while there's almost always more than one way to do things, I've seen enough of your tutorials to know you've got a lot to teach people. If they don't want to listen, that's their loss. Keep on keepin' on!

Lovely, but, if anyone can afford $10K in lighting systems, videographers, etc., they really KNOW what to do with it already...this is not for beginners or people with limited, no knowledge, other than to aspire....down the road...

I 100% believe that the AI tools in Photoshop are going to destroy the hobby of photography. I'm not talking about the casual user, capturing everyday life, but the hobbyists who join photo groups and camera clubs, and submit their images for competition. . . Serious photographers who exchange images on forums and social media. It is getting to the point where, particularly with landscape photography, the viewer doesn't know what is real, and what it not. Yes, part of that scene may exist, but the photographer used generative AI to expand the horizon, where the software just makes up the rest of the scene. What about that dramatic sky? Did it exist at all? Who knows. This goes way beyond just cloning out a distracting soda can. In my opinion, this technology is cheapening the art of photography. As the technology progresses, hobbyists will ask themselves, why go to the trouble to learn the hobby and capture that perfect scene when viewers aren't going to believe it in the first place?

I'm a big fan of Aftershoot, but come on, my guy. "Is Aftershoot better, or is Imagen better?" Aftershoot gives you money. "Aftershoot is better!". This makes me sad for Aftershoot's reputation, and yours as well.

The reflector and the bounce umbrella look the same because you are not utilising the full umbrella. It's way too close to the flash head. The light source is thus pretty much the same size. You gotta push that bad boy out until the modelling light fills the whole umbrella.
