This video explains the general strategy I followed to get 50 wins in a row with The Unknown. For the purpose of this challenge, we consider a win getting 3 or 4 kills, with anything less resulting in a reset. Offerings and add-ons were also limited to keep things interesting!

I think most of the reception was more psychological than fun or engaging. I agree it's both of those things, but it's a little similar to range killers and teleporting killers we've had recently, and a lot of people were left confuse on why their power was so out of place given the character design. The main argument wasn't about fun or engagin you know? still happy to see people enjoy it despite those flaws

I've seen people like OnePumpWillie have massive success with Monitor and Abuse on this killer. The smaller Terror Radius lets you easily line up shots on gens and snipe people without them even knowing you were there.

I play Killer a lot and it's extremely demotivating when you get flashed after taking down a Survivor that took AGES to get knocked. Now whenever I see a lobby with even one flashlight user, I make sure to bring Lightborn

While yes it is frustrating, the fact that someone is following you around the whole game effectively means you're chasing 2 survivors at the same time, that's the reason why otz was even able to win that game is because really only 2 people were working objectives at a time. The gens would have popped much sooner if there wasn't that flashlight player chasing for saves.

(Prices in CAD, one TCM character is $12.99, comparatively the newest DLCs with Sable/Unknown or Gabriel/Hux are $9.79), and TCM didn't even have an ingame currency you could use to get the characters for free. (Though I have heard theyve added one, which is a point I will give them). Plus, now whenever new characters come in theyre in the next tome, so their perks are guaranteed in the shrine of secrets. Are you for real? The killer is completely busted - his power is too unpredictable and difficult to counter, makes looping virtually impossible given it works through walls PLUS the cross-map mobility. Too many killer mains brains have rot if they think he is balanced AND fun to play against.

The issue with the perk is that it lets survivors perform pallet/flashlight saves with absolutely no risk. Killers can’t even come off the pick up to get a hit because they can stand 20m away. the unknown's ability to hit through walls is SO nice (especially when paired w/ perks that suppress your terror radius and aura reading perks like nowhere to hide), it's probably one of its most powerful abilities that shoots it up in regards to how strong it is

The ability to hit around corners and through walls, paired with its teleport, combines extremely well together gameplay wise and really fits the lurking monster aesthetic they were going for. They could've just made a pyramid head style, straight up shoot through walls, power, but this is a very interesting and satisfying way to handle the power.

“A survivor can zoom 25 miles away and get a flashlight save and there’s nothing you can do about it” Sounds like a killer can get a hook and pop a gen across the map with pain res and there’s nothing you can do about that

I like how his complaint explicitly describes the counterplay to Pain Res: denying the hook with a flashy save, bodyblocks, etc. These situations aren't remotely analogous. A chase could realistically bring you anywhere on the map. Flashlight saves are often just unavoidable. Losing health states and going down is *always* avoidable. It's just difficult to avoid when a killer is good. How do you avoid getting blinded on a pickup in an open area with nowhere to look? You don't. You just bank on there not being a surv with a flashlight hiding somewhere. EDIT: don't take this to think Otz or I are calling for flashlight nerfs or something. I'm simply saying that the counterplay to a well-placed flashy save is "be clairvoyant," while Pain Res can be outplayed the same way you outplay normal hooks. It's really strong, toxic, and annoying, sure, but beating it isn't a guessing game. That's the difference. Guessing games can be fine in terms of balance, but sometimes they can get frustrating, and Otz wasn't out of line getting frustrated by numerous consecutive unlucky flashlight saves.

Pallets are finite resources, Windows block themselves mid-chase now, Killers have a base speed that is 10-15% faster than Survivors plus they get bloodlust that can bring that up to 125 or 130% speed and unless you are playing on SWF or run Windows of Opportunity, you have no idea what pallets your teammates have thrown/which loops are still safe to run. This isn't even taking into account killer powers and perks. "Losing a health state and going down is always avoidable." LOL, sure. Play against an aura-reading build Nurse, MDR Spirit, Blight, Artist or Plague then get back to me with that statement. Plague on her own completely nullifies that statement, let alone the other decent to strong Killers.

Just because it's unbelievably difficult doesn't mean it's literally impossible. There is no such thing as a guaranteed hit in this game. You can miss, you can bait people into missing. You likely do this at least once a game. There's always a decision made on the part of the survivors that lead to you getting hit. Teammate dropped a pallet and you didn't know about it? That's not a random act of God. That's still a survivor making a decision that lead to the killer getting a hit lol. Yes. Every hit and hook has a way to be avoided. It's just not sensible to expect survs to play like TASbots who know how to read a killer's mind. And if you lack information due to being in a solo queue that's still on you. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Idk I think there is nothing wrong with a win streak, especially since he said he wasn't really trying to get the win streak in the beginning but you can go around those perks as they do for most the game the only way to deal with a back ground player is to zone them out and even then its annoying since you will get thoee survivors yap about it being toxic to tunnel him out also he did say he was just letting frustration talk which everyone does time to time

Im not a killer main but the few matches ive played as the unknown felt really satisfying. I love that we have a killer that can hit through walls and add another layer to mind games, even shack you have to second guess if you should hug the wall or swing wide bringing some new life to stale loops. Looking forward to playing as/against him some more.

I think that this killer is honestly a great example of how many of the killers should be made. He's got unique powers that are strong but also fun, quite decent skill cap and he's also quite fun to play against imo. What a great video! Love that this series can be brought back even in 2024 ❤
