whenever you have charging problems: Always clean the battery cables and grounds to the frame. look all over for grounds as they can come from several places. Clean the connections coming from the alternator. Several times I have seen the main power wire coming from the alternator was corroded and not flowing current.

You can buy parts to rebuild the alternator. I replaced the brushes in mine at an auto parts store in Flagstaff. You can buy the bearings also. Ford used them on ambulances in the 80’ and 90’s.
@johnmackenzie74872 жыл бұрын
You can fit a switch on your solar charging system, that will divert to your vehicle battery if you need to. That way you can charge either battery.
@JimmyandNatalie2 жыл бұрын
We actually do have a switch like that! It has been super helpful when we had the faulty alternator because whenever we notice the starter batteries dipping too low, we’d flip the switch and stop charging our house bank.

My plans have changed, I'm looking for a bus about your size and I will have a 16' enclosed trailer. My plan is to put solar and batteries on the trailer and have 2 small freezers or one big one and stock pile food and drinks. Enough for 3-6 months. The bus will have solar as well and a small fridge/freezer. I am on the hunt for a good bus now. I'm hoping to find one soon.

Montazuma’s well is only a few miles away from the castle with a great hike. Further up the road you could visit V Bar V and hike to an amazing display of petroglyphs and beyond Flagstaff you could use your pass to visit Sunset Crater/Wipaki Monuments. The Grand Canyon too.

If you take the battery cable of the bus while its running and the bus cuts it self off the alternator is bad.
