In my 30s and I have been a RN for 10 years, wanting to go back to Anesthesia Assistant school, so I have to do a post bacc to refresh science pre preqs. Its nice to see people going to school at any age!

I felt this, I dropped out of med school in Mexico did about 3 years. Now I’m thinking of going back but in the US so that’s 4 yrs of college first, gotta make sure that I maintain a high gpa first though.

Thanks brother for the inspiration. After a career in health and fitness, and corporate management, I’m now considering taking a similar path. I received my Master’s degree in business in 2010 at the age of 32, so I’ve been out of school for going on 14 years. At 45 this this is refreshing to see. Thanks for the video. I will be 42 in October was just accepted to a postbacc premed program starting summer 2024. You sharing your journey has helped me so much. Whenever I feel unsure of myself, your videos are a great reminder that I can do this. I'm so looking forward to continuing to follow your journey. A few questions for you: What is your school doing to prepare you for COMLEX and USMLE? Are there any students in your class who are considering only taking COMLEX? If so, what specific residencies will take only COMLEX? Since you are considering FM/IM, would you consider a neuromuscular medicine fellowship to continue to use OMM in your practice?

Congratulations on your acceptance into the postbacc program! As far as board exam goes, we are given COMBANK questions during each block that coincide with our lectures. We also have Scholar-Rx which is a USMLE exam prep that coincides with First Aid. In addition I have purchased UWorld and Boot Camp. I will use the school's resources during the year and my own during dedicated board prep time. I am going to take both exams as about 65% of D.O. students do. Most primary care residencies accept Comlex only. As far as a neuromuscular medicine fellowship is concerned, it is not on my list because there are some D.O. specific primary care residencies that have OMM certifications available.

Subscribing to you now. I’m nearly 28 and can’t shake this feeling of regret if I don’t take on medical school. I’ll be nearly 40 by the time pre-regs, MCAT, med school and residency are done. Trying not to think about that too much and remember I can either be 40 and nothing or 40 and a doctor.

That would be a good course of study. Just be sure the curriculum includes that science prerequisites. Some classes are similar but may not be accepted by certain medical schools.

You would still be a licenced physician so you could work as a hospitalist or a medical consultant. Most people will match in the 2nd round though.
