Hi Antonio, first let me say you are an inspiration. I stumbled onto your videos late last year because I decided to go back to school and finish my degree to go to medical school. I will be turning 50 this May and have been married for 26 years and have a son who is 16 and on the autism spectrum. I'll finish my degree this year and taking the MCAT later this year. I have a lot ahead of me yet to apply to med school. Like you this is my true calling and I'm glad you did a video with your wife. What a beautiful couple and thank you for sharing your journey. You have got this man.

Hi future Dr. Antonio. At the age of 35, I am beginning my journey to become a medical doctor. I apologize if this question seems a bit personal, but were your children able to comprehend the path you've taken in your career? I have a two-year-old and my worry is that he may not understand my journey. As for my wife, I am less concerned because she, being an MD herself, is already aware of the protocols involved.

Congratulations on starting your journey. My children are a little bit older but my son was 7 when I started. He didn't understand why I didn't move the whole family and I had to try to explain to him that we didn't want to move him out of his school. My daughters sort of felt like it was selfish to go to school and miss out on some of their activities but I do my best to be as present as possible.

However, I am determined not to repeat the same mistake my parents made by suppressing their own dreams for the sake of my brother and me. I am genuinely grateful for all they have done for us, but I firmly believe that pursuing our dreams ultimately empowers our children, instilling within them a sense of strength and security, knowing that they too can chase their own aspirations.
