It seems that the younger people aren't into this car culture and history. As long as it's good on mileage, has Bluetooth, and a great stereo with lights, they love it! All this history of classic cars and the culture that follows with it, is fading away. Those lucky enough to own classic cars and collectibles, have maybe 20-30 years left til this disposable society has no use or value for them. It's sad but true. I've heard it from collectors for years. I'm on my 2nd mustang GT, and love it. Mostly people 30+ years old care to comment or ask me about it. How do true automotive enthusiasts keep this rich history and car culture going in a world with smart phone apps and tweets? God bless you Jay. What you have, you share with the world with each show. Life in overdrive, and sometimes cruise control.

Im really glad to see how the american muscle cars are growing again, this new mustang, the 6th gen camaro and the hellcat are just the top of an iceberg that is going to shake the world wide automotive industry, you may not like the mustang as a brand, or maybe you cannot think as the mustang as something else than the rival car (this come from a diehard camaro owner) but the car is really a nice piece of art, Im not gonna buy one, but Im 100% sure this car will bring a smile to it future owners well done Ford... well done..

It's people like you that make the availability of a BRAND NEW (old) Mustang body, in steel, available today. There is a company that bought the rights and some of the equipment from Ford to reproduce some of the old 'Stangs. With sufficient cash you can have a brand new '68 bodied 'Stang with MODERN running gear. Not fiberglass, and not "close", but an IDENTICAL body, with upgraded steel and anti-rust zinc coatings for longevity. So you are one of MANY whose allegiance to the old style assures it will always be around. Ad I can think of no more deserving a car.

Wow, Lee Iacocca - what a "get"! The man who saved Chrysler, the first time around. My Dad went out and bought a 64-1/2 when it first came out. I think we first saw them at the World's Fair. His was a stripper - six cylinder, three-speed, 13" tires. It was a ragtop, though. 5:31 "What made you such a car guy?" Great question, Lee. He's still got it! I had a '65 convertible in high school. Paid $100 for it. A mountain of rust, but fun!

I know there are lots of people out there who don't like this new Mustang, but I think Ford did a wonderful job of making a brand-new design while still keeping enough original styling cues to make it look like a Mustang. I'm kinda sad to hear that they switched to independent rear suspension even though it allows for way better handling performance wise. Nothing will ever beat a Ford 9 inch rear end, even if its a top of the line independent rear end lol. This new era of mustang will dominate and continue to flourish like it has been for the last 50 years.

I agree with you about the Ford 9" -- but (unless I'm mistaken) the Mustang has used the Ford 8.8" since the early 2000s? I think? And that's not a bad one, but it's not the 9". But yeah, for a live rear-axle, nothing can beat the Ford 9". (And I'm not forgetting about the Dana axles, which are tough as nails, it's just that they're used in off-road vehicles usually, not in cars.)

No your right, Ford used the 8.8 in rear end but a lot of people would swap out for the 9 in. I've got a dana 60 rear axle in my '74 f250 and a 44 up front, nothing beats that besides another 60 up front which is what I'm looking for lol.

He actually did write an autobiography in the late 1980’s. Iacocca-An Autobiography, written with William Novak. I read it then as a kid, and was fascinated. The man was a true visionary, and one of the most important men of his generation (or any other, for that matter!).

Back in 1965 my dad brought home GT 350. I was very young about 7 years old I just remember hearing this car rumble up and I looked inside and don't quote me on this... But it was Shelby and it had a Roll bar in it. My mom absolutely lost it when she saw there is no back seat and my dad was showing her the motoring she was mad that it wasn't an automatic and made him take it back to the dealership. I just remember my dad doing a huge burnout the driveway and the smoke stayed there for what seemed days later my mom did like the minds of the Mustang and they ended up buying AGT version to 25 horse with a 4 speed... My dad didn't want an automatic and got his wish for pause attraction to. My dad was a true car guy and I kept that car still to this day. The way my dad got did keep the 4 speed as he got a bench seat. So you got a GT version Posi 4 speed and bench seat. Then several times I've been tempted to take it out but I kept it just because they came with the car

Jay has money and that has given him the opportunity to have many cars in his collection. Thats not very uncommon , there are many folks with money and huge desirable collections . But Jay went and shared his cars and his love of those cars with us and showed us that he really is one of us . Jay does these shows and shares his fortune with us and that makes him iconic in my opinion. He answers questions that real car guys all have and he gets interviews with the people that real car guys consider iconic and relevant . Im not sure he even knows how relevant he has become by sharing his good fortune with us in a way that only another real car guy can. He has used his money and his position in life to answer questions and bring us into a world we would otherwise not have to opportunity to see or hear. You are most certainly one of a kind Jay , thanks for doing these...

Just got the engine of my number 63 running again. 635000 miles then 25 years in the garage. Original owner, well I inherited it from my dad. Car was totalled 3 times once a garage burned down on top of it. It was worked on originally by my father and Cole Palen who formed the Rheinbeck aerodrome. With some luck it will be back on the road this summer.

Jay, when the Mustang first came out in 1964 1/2 my mom and dad went to the Ford dealer and looked at the car with us kids. Short test drive and dad ordered a hard top with automatic and a 260 v8. Color was Red with a White top. Dad used to turn on the garage light and look at the car, "that is going to become a classic some day".

Mr. Iacocca was a man who took chances and knew which chances to take. My father being a businessman himself, paid attention especially when he took over Chrysler and turned thigs around there. My father bought a new Caravan every few years to go with his Mercedes and Buicks. Pop had three Caravans that all ran and drove at time of his passing.

The good thing is that there are still a pretty good amount of prototypes left. I know for a fact there are at least two Chrysler Turbines left. Jay has one and there is another one in the Henry Ford Museum.

Voivrenetwork its disheartening. I never knew they destroyed prototype cars until I seen a video a couple of years ago of Dodge Viper being crushed. It broke my heart.

chris r ya. True. But the prototypes are just an idea really. I don’t know how to elaborate but the prototypes aren’t built for safety really. The idea was if they ended up crashing the lawsuits would have been unforeseeable and then you have the problem with registration, who’s gonna insure this thing and you can’t title it and that means you can’t sell it. Other than that? Your good to go lol
