50 Years of Text Games, by Aaron A. Reed, is a new book that was recently funded via Kickstarter. Each chapter discusses a text-based game made from 1971-2020, one game per year. I backed for the collector's edition and it's really cool! Check it out!

A few comments: 1) I finished reading the book and it's really great all around :) 2) I figured out the puzzle right after I stopped playing, and 3) I accidentally called the book "50 Years of Text Adventures" at the end. It's Text GAMES. Text GAMES! Bad Stu. :)

Wow...so cool! Cool book and cool package overall. Hope you have a live stream of the game too. I used to be a casual text gamer at most (although I was a crazy fan of game books, including Choose Your Own Adventure), but I'm intrigued by the concept of that game.

Of course you got the super fancy Ultimate Collector's Edition, I just have the humble hardcover edition without any extras 😜 @9:45 "It wasn't that much..." Stu it was $185, you must be rich 🤑

Honestly I forget how much these things cost because they always take so much time to get made and then my brain tricks me into remembering that they were cheap so that I don't feel bad. ;)

I just went to their web site because I was interested in buying a hard copy, but it's sold out :-( ... but they might do a reprint in the future. They decided to call it 50 years of text games, rather than 50 years of text adventures. Are all 50 chapters about actual text adventures, or is some of it about text games in general (eg Hammurabi, Eliza etc)

Some games are about non-adventures, including MUDs, choose your own adventure books, and all other types of text games you can think of. :)
