A few years back my family and I rented a Linssen 40AC i Germany for two weeks. Basically same boat as this one but a just a little smaller. Ever since a Linssen has been on my wishlist. One lives very comfortably in one of these, and you learn to relax, slow down and start living! The noise created by a Linssen, or rather lack thereof, must be experienced to be believed. It is a motorboat but it makes less noice than a sailboat. And quality of the build? This is Mercedes S class qualitycontrol on stereoids! I did visit the yard and I was absolutely convinced. Theese people not only know how to build boats, but it apparent that theese craftsmen put a lot of pride in their work. Linssen boats are exelent value for money, and they, as a lot of steel boats keep their value over time. To the extent a boat is a good investment ( they usually are not! ) a Linssen will be the exeption.

thats the nice part of displacement hull, you trade-in speed for more room
@norarivkis25133 жыл бұрын
WOW!!! I *never* thought I would see a 45-foot boat that would hold my family. There's five of us and I've been looking at the 55-70' models because everything I see that's smaller than that only has two cabins, or else the whole space is so cramped that you can't use the rooms they do have. This one could perfectly feasibly be a comfortable liveaboard home for us with a couple of minor modifications of the kind that are always customized from one owner to the next. And it's ten feet smaller than the next biggest model I've seen that would work. I am incredibly impressed. We don't typically eat at table, we just sit in the living room, so I would probably drop that dinette altogether in order to expand the galley and provide serious cold storage and a dishwasher, and similarly cut out the walk-in closet in order to fit a real bathtub into the master, and just have the drawers and storage under the bed for our clothes. But those are just preference, the way we use a boat instead of the way somebody else does. I've been looking at full displacement trawlers, the kind that typically do have a lot of space per foot, but I've seen nothing that fits so much into 45'. This is a really impressive little boat!

You had me at Dutch Boat - but the STEEL construction kept me watching. I'm "looking" for a live aboard myself. ROOM is the one thing boats under 50 feet lack. But those clever, wooden shoed folk in the nether lands have found space where none was thought to be. And comfort. And long range actual STOWAGE. I'm guessing they make fewer that one million of these each year - so the waiting list has a waiting list. Well, as my gran used to say - that worth having is worth waiting for. But Nan - I'm now 75...

I spent some time on a Matthews 42 with a very similar layout but minus the separate shower stall and can attest to just how livable this style of layout is. HA! Finally 😊 The Dutch build great steel boats, and Linssen is one of the best. They're not speed boats, but great touring and live-aboard owner-operated boats. They're not cheap, but they will last your lifetime and that of your children's as well (and great re-sale value). They're proper offshore boats (winds to 40 knots and significant seas to 13 feet), but also 'fold down' to scale practically any river (and under any bridge) in mainland Europe. They're vastly popular here, you see them everywhere. The space inside, and the headroom, is second to none in this size boat. Personally, I prefer the Variotop models, they offer even more space and amenities, especially the 500AC Variotop. I also prefer the 'proper boat blue' hull colour LOL, but that's the beauty of Linssen, they'll give do whatever you wish, inside and out. Great tour as always, Nick 😊 I'd love to see you do a tour on the Variodeck one of these days.

Just looking at it quickly, you don't have a lot of deck area you could cover with panels, my as a trickle charge for the batteries, but that's about it.

Not enough real-estate for the panels.
@norarivkis25133 жыл бұрын
Sadly true, which is a pity because she'd be a good fit for them if she had a place to put them. You might be able to fit on enough solar panels to run the house, even if not the propulsion.

A typical interior for an inland/coastal cruiser but done so well! Great attention to detail, the engine mounts, separate heads (drives me nuts to see that feature not on much bigger & expensive boats) and safe roomy decks. I liked the fold-up seat over the rear entrance to what I assume is a small bathing platform and hopefully a fine pair of stainless steel derricks. I am a bit of a derrick nerd, can't help myself.

Thanks for the video. I like Linssen boats. The quality is very good. In my search for a boat I have been looking at several Linssen boats. Unfortunately the new ones are far beyond my budget. During my search I have seen that even after 30 years the durability is still there. Doors still fit and hinges and locks open and close perfect. I like the push in locks. They are flush with the door so no clothing can be caught behind it.

With the vast number of canals and rivers (and even towns that have canals for roads - Giethoorn) it's no wonder that the Dutch know how to do an inland boat properly. This is not a Jeremy Clarkson boat: there's no speed nor power. But with the ability to go at least across the Channel, this would be brilliant for visiting all of Europe on your own time, from Norway to Greece, Portugal to Poland. I'm quite impressed by this one. Thanks for the tour!
