Did this one have the cellar? I think I've only ever seen one video where they show off the cellar on these things. Maybe it was a one off option for a specific owner or something. I'm so torn on the Moodys. On one hand I absolutely love how spacious and well laid out the interiors are, but on the other hand, it really does feel like they stuck a mast and a couple of helms on a motorboat. I love center cockpit and deck saloon boats though. Definitely a fan of the Amels and Najads, and for a deck saloon I think I would be happiest with a Sirius. They manage to have a spacious saloon with a ton of light without sacrificing that "sailboat" feel. I would never turn down a moody, of course, but I think for my money, I would have to go with a Sirius.

Inside this boat underneath the DS there is MASSIVE storage, which is really great on a sailing boat. Also all lines are led back to each helm station, makes it really feasible to single hand this boat.

1. I think having the galley on the deck is an excellent design. 2. Impressive interior space for a 41. The hull looks very beamy. 3. The second cabin is under the mess area, but I guess there isn't anything beneath the galley. The hull aft is very shallow compared to forward, so the boat is probably a bit faster than one might expect from the beam.

That is such a nice yacht. So many features that I really like, including the two jib furling layout. Interior is excellent and the deck saloon layout works so well. The only tiny thing I wondered about was what I assume was the boom vang in the black cover at about 5:10 in. It looks as though it potentially scrapes the cabin roof. It also looks like the rope runs are very well laid out. Are the winches electric? If so, single-handing looks viable as well. Sometimes that's very useful.

Always good to see Maggie make an appearance...Jaque is great, but you always have a bit of extra feeling for your first, don't you think? 😏 I do have a bit of a quibble with this boat, though...I don't think the engine access is very good in the case of a casualty at sea. On most sail yachts, the engine access is inside the boat, where it can be worked on in any weather...and where it is relatively out of the way. This placement is great for regular maintenance and repairs in port or at anchor, but not good at all out at sea in bad weather, plus it makes your cockpit largely impassable. 🖖 Really enjoying all the videos on all the channels...cheers again for keeping the content coming.💯

I've been watching SV Delos videos and the mid cabin layout on sail boats seems to make so much more sense. I mean this all looks beautiful but having the helm and all rope handling under possible cover seems like a nice option for all weather sailing.
@operator03 жыл бұрын
Center cockpit sailboats offer a few advantages, but come with some disadvantages as well. The advantages are; A safer cockpit for heavy weather sailing, and a large aft cabin. The disadvantages; A smaller cockpit and smaller main salon area, and not as much of a traditional, wind in the hair sense of excitement sailing experience, which is very appealing to many sailors, but may wear thin if you plan on cruising the world. As the saying goes; Every sailboat is a compromise.

First saw the Moody 41' DS at Dusseldorf 2019 methinks, always had a soft spot for them since I started looking for a boat for myself and I came damn close to buying an older Primrose designed marine projects 33' Mk 2 CC, then later a 34' CC. The most striking features of this boat are that it has a definite catamaran feel to the cockpit and saloon but on one hull, and the high bulwarks and solid handrails make for a safe sea boat, it should really be classified as a pilot house yacht and not a DS but I'm not arguing the toss, nice boat, I'd have one in a heartbeat and if money was no object I'd have the bigger sister 52'????
