Great video. Thank you for making this video as I will be following each step of the way. Im looking to build my own 500 gallon smoker. However I’m making a square firebox. I have a few questions in regards. 1. I want my firebox to be made with 3/8” plate steel, same as thickness of tank. I’m not insulating my firebox at this thickness. 2. If I made this firebox using thinner gauge steel or the same 3/8” plate steel, what type of welder would I use. Not sure if either harbor freight TITANIUM UNLIMITED 200 Professional Multi-Process Welder with 120/240V Input, or VULCAN OMNIPRO 220 Industrial Multiprocess Welder with 120/240V Input Would work for this project. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

How thick is the metal? Is it 1/4th or .218? also, have you cooked on it in near 0° temps? Just wondering how the 500's hold up compared to the 250's

The cook chamber and firebox shell are about 5/16 to 3/8 according to a tape measure I have. The smoker is not finished yet so I don’t know how it would preform in those temps. Also I am in Georgia so I don’t think I’ll ever get to experience using it in that kind of weather.
