@@hankclingingsmith8707Trying to hold a phone, and a starter button and working the throttle pretty difficult. It fires right up when I pump the throttle while spinning the engine over. In warm weather, it starts without even touching the gas, so I was hoping it would just fire off like it normally does. Temp dropped about 50 degrees here in the past week. Need someone to hold the camera, or a tripod so I can use both hands. But I don't have neither. Notice it fired right up when I throttled it.

If you ever build a new shop go with 'in-floor' heat. you cannot beat it. There is something about having heat coming through your feet or your back (if you are lying down working on something) that is really good. That is coming from experience. My shop is in the Canadian Rockies - it's cold as hell this time of year.

Id like to have one myself. Had one in my old shop. Big fucker, costed $500 a month to run that bastard 20yrs ago. But it heated a 40x80 building. Natural gas was cheap, but that big bastard used Alot of it. The unit was huge. Probably 500 to 1000lbs. I lived in that shop.

That fuckin shop I lived in costed a fortune. $1500 for the building, $1000 for electric, $500 in nat gas, that was 2000 era money. But I had a office I lived in, a van in the shop in slept in, and a portable stand up shower in the bathroom. I built engines and hotrod's non stop in that place. Plus I had a lot of " disposable" income coming in with my green thumb. It was a pretty good operation while it lasted. Built some badass drag cars there. Now I don't have room for shit, and I retired my extra curricular activities years ago. Getting old sucks.

For being such a small cubic inch engine it sounds damn healthy. I got a 357 in the barn but it's all stock pistons and rods and crank it had a set of stock camel humps on it the only thing good on it is the head studs. I'm going to use them on my 406 once I get started on it. I was going to make my 406 a 421 but I think I'll do that with a aftermarket block. Everything is so ducking high nowadays compared to when I started out . I use to be able to build a killer engine for what the cost of a good set of. Heads cost now.

It's PARKER #8 fuel line with push lock A&N fittings. Usually found in the oval track world. Works pretty good. It'll take 300psi, I have this one at set about 7 PSI, so it's good shit. Definitely has a good starter on it.😊

Had a few 67-72 C-10s myself. My favorite body style Chevy truck. Had a 69 C-10 short step side drag truck years ago, it was pretty rowdy. Also a mean 68 and a sleeper 72 long bed with a hell of a bigblock in it. Truck looked terrible. But it was quick.

@@reaperct3454 I'm retired now. Over 30+yrs of doing this for a living got old. It would be years before I could get to it. Figure on $8000-$10,000 for a unit like this ready to go. Buy used parts and build it yourself and do it for maybe half that. Could buy a used racing engine that needs freshened up for a deal. I've seen expensive engines get sold cheap like that. Save Alot of money that way. There are racers that are quitting and sell off their shit cheap. I've gotten good deals from old racers that died and family sold off all the racecar shit. I've bought heads that had 3-4 grand in them for less than $1000 bucks. There are deals out there. Oval track racing is a good source for SBC racing engines. Most are built with real good parts in the faster classes.

I want to apologize to anyone who is feeling deep sorrow for that starter and the extended cranking time. Don't worry, that starter is a tough motherfucker and was not harmed. I just needed to work the throttle, hold the camera and hold the starter button simultaneously, but I needed an extra hand or a tripod. Im gonna have to invest into a tripod I guess. But the engine is in perfect state of tune, it has no choke on a race carburetor with a big single plane intake and the timing is locked out at 34 degrees. Jocky with the throttle while cranking it over and it starts right up. In earm weather, i can just pump the throttle once and it fires right up. These type engines are cantankerous in sub freezing weather. But rest assured, the starter is fine. Thanks for enduring it and watching this shit. Sam.

Appears to be China no name heads, they're not AFR's thats for sure which one would need or simular to make 500hp from 357ci. Would need good heads ,a lot of compression and a lot of cam to make 500hp with 357ci.

I still have a killer Q-jet off a NHRA legal Superstock 295hp 350. It was first built back in the mid 80s, but it's been refreshed a few times. It ran mid 10s back in the late 80s on a Superstock 68 350 295hp. Extremely modified 041 heads with 1.94/1.50 valves, but flowed 270+/200+CFM back in the 80s. Still have them too. Alot of tricks in them old iron heads. Believe the intake runner checked out about 170cc. Alot of metal taken off them decks too. Those old Superstock heads were trick for the day. A lot of work in them. One day id like to build another old school Superstock 350 with them. They made over 550hp and turned 8000+rpm with a 1968 Q-jet on a ported Victor E intake and a Moroso Q-jet to 4150 flange for single plane intake. Had a hell of a solid roller cam in it. Compression jacked way up pretty good too. Many tricks. I grew up around Gassers, Stock and Superstock & Modified Production & Super Modified class cars. So it rubbed off on me I guess. Bad ass NA door slammers. I like building NHRA legal Stock/Superstock engines, Modified Production type engines, it's turned into big money to compete these days tho. Gotta be a millionaire to try to compete in NHRA now. Wasn't always that way tho. Those classes used to be the working class blue collar guy classes. Times sure changed.

This engine makes around 550-560hp. It's getting 1 7/8 primary, 3 1/2 collectors on it when it goes in the car. Also going with Schoenfeld headers on it. For the money, they make a good headers for about anything.
