@@hankclingingsmith8707Trying to hold a phone, and a starter button and working the throttle pretty difficult. It fires right up when I pump the throttle while spinning the engine over. In warm weather, it starts without even touching the gas, so I was hoping it would just fire off like it normally does. Temp dropped about 50 degrees here in the past week. Need someone to hold the camera, or a tripod so I can use both hands. But I don't have neither. Notice it fired right up when I throttled it.

If you ever build a new shop go with 'in-floor' heat. you cannot beat it. There is something about having heat coming through your feet or your back (if you are lying down working on something) that is really good. That is coming from experience. That fuckin shop I lived in costed a fortune. $1500 for the building, $1000 for electric, $500 in nat gas, that was 2000 era money. But I had a office I lived in, a van in the shop in slept in, and a portable stand up shower in the bathroom. I built engines and hotrod's non stop in that place. Plus I had a lot of " disposable" income coming in with my green thumb. It was a pretty good operation while it lasted. Built some badass drag cars there. Now I don't have room for shit, and I retired my extra curricular activities years ago. Getting old sucks.

I want to apologize to anyone who is feeling deep sorrow for that starter and the extended cranking time. Don't worry, that starter is a tough motherfucker and was not harmed. I just needed to work the throttle, hold the camera and hold the starter button simultaneously, but I needed an extra hand or a tripod. Im gonna have to invest into a tripod I guess. But the engine is in perfect state of tune, it has no choke on a race carburetor with a big single plane intake and the timing is locked out at 34 degrees. Jocky with the throttle while cranking it over and it starts right up. In earm weather, i can just pump the throttle once and it fires right up. These type engines are cantankerous in sub freezing weather. But rest assured, the starter is fine. Thanks for enduring it and watching this shit. Sam.

I still have a killer Q-jet off a NHRA legal Superstock 295hp 350. It was first built back in the mid 80s, but it's been refreshed a few times. It ran mid 10s back in the late 80s on a Superstock 68 350 295hp. Extremely modified 041 heads with 1.94/1.50 valves, but flowed 270+/200+CFM back in the 80s. Still have them too. Alot of tricks in them old iron heads. Believe the intake runner checked out about 170cc. Alot of metal taken off them decks too. Those old Superstock heads were trick for the day. A lot of work in them. One day id like to build another old school Superstock 350 with them. They made over 550hp and turned 8000+rpm with a 1968 Q-jet on a ported Victor E intake and a Moroso Q-jet to 4150 flange for single plane intake. Had a hell of a solid roller cam in it. Compression jacked way up pretty good too. Many tricks. I grew up around Gassers, Stock and Superstock & Modified Production & Super Modified class cars. So it rubbed off on me I guess. Bad ass NA door slammers. I like building NHRA legal Stock/Superstock engines, Modified Production type engines, it's turned into big money to compete these days tho. Gotta be a millionaire to try to compete in NHRA now. Wasn't always that way tho. Those classes used to be the working class blue collar guy classes. Times sure changed.

This engine makes around 550-560hp. It's getting 1 7/8 primary, 3 1/2 collectors on it when it goes in the car. Also going with Schoenfeld headers on it. For the money, they make a good headers for about anything.

A little more jet. 74/84 in it now. Gonna bump the primary to 76 and leave the secondary as is for now. Probably won't be in the car till spring, then it'll really get dialed in.
