Hedy West (April 6, 1938 - July 3, 2005) was an American folksinger and songwriter. She belonged to the same generation of folk revivalists as Joan Baez and Judy Collins. Her most famous song "500 Miles" is one of America's most popular folk songs. She was described by the English folk musician.................Respect for HER.!!!!!!!!

I don't know what was the original purport of this wonderful folk song. But I get a different and subtler meaning. When my soul leaves and thus misses this 'body train', oh my friends and relatives would know that ' i was gone'. When you hear a whistle sound in the rituals, as is custom in many cultures, you would know that ' i was dead and gone'. My soul has shed its 'body cloth' and is now naked without its 'body shirt' on its back. The soul has no penny to its account meaning 'it does not have much merit to its credit. And there is no way my soul could return back to its 'body home'. This is a wonderful folk song with deep meaing. Justin Timberlake's voice is mesmerising.
