I've had a 2000 GSX750F. Got mine for £950 - real bergain, taking there was nothing wrong with it - completely straight bike! I've sold my Honda CG125 for £1250, got the Katana and still had a £300 left in my pocket, lol. I've had it over 2 years - this is an amazing bike, good for touring as well and it pulls like a train! This bike has 0-60 in 3.5s, taking that fastest bikes like ZX-14R, fireblades and Hayabusas are only 0.5-0.7s faster, this thing is an absolute rocket! The only issue about it is that it is just sooo heavy. When you are riding on the road it sits like a frog, very stable, really good on corners, so easy to ride, but park it somewhere, even only slightly downhill and try to push it out to get going - you have a challenge. I've just traded in mine 2 months ago for a 1st gen busa and the busa is so much lighter, whilst slightly more powerful and much faster as when the Katana goes over 100mph it still pulls to vmax but it starts taking time, on busa, 60-120mph is like 0-60, however both of these bikes are making 100mph in 2nd gear with no trouble and you can break any speed limit in 1st.
@uhtred7860 Жыл бұрын
In reality the 1st gen Hayabusa is actually heavier, weird huh.

Sounds like a fun trade to me. This thing sure is a tank, but tons of fun. Thanks for watching and stay safe.
@anonimous24519 ай бұрын
Dude you are comparing a 125 to a 750. OF COURSE it is going to be heavier. But Gen1,2,3 ya almost can't kill em. Except letting em sit without proper preparations. I NEVER do not put Fuel stabilizer in my tank. Got 6 bikes and sometimes they sit a few months. Have never had one not start even after a year of not riding it. They all stay on a Battery Tender too.

Got my payout from the dude who pulled out on me a month ago last week, and scooped a 2003 GSX600F with 11,000 on it. Previous owner didnt have much mechanical knowhow, so the carbs were gunked to hell, and the one before that had jetted it, and put a exhaust tip on, but failed to adjust the air/fuel ratio. Just wrapped up cleaning the carbs, adjusting the air/fuel and she runs like a dream, just cant find a choke cable, oh well. Wont need it for the summer. To anyone with maintenance woes, look up katana and playlists on youtube

i just finished a rebuild on my 98 750, the katriders forum is super helpful as well to have a textual reference and then youtube has most things although some of the videos are in spanish but still. Love my 750, the previous owner had done a rebuild on the carbs, stripping a whole lot of screws alot the way, but had the AF 3/4turn too lean along with inproper float heights and the works. Now shes running great, feeling great. Something bout the 90s style bikes just feel good. probably the whole shit ton of extra weight but idk

I always wondered why this model, (GSX750F for the rest of the world) was called "Katana" in the U.S, I guess Suzuki U.S marketing dept thought it would shift more models if they named it after one of their most distinctive, well loved models. I have a 85 GSX750S pop up headlight model Katana, and even that gets s**t for not being a "real" Hans muth/Target design Katana on the FB pages.🤣🤣
@MikMech Жыл бұрын
I feel your pain. I had an 83 and still have a 95. The 95 gets dissed all the time for being a 'Katana'. It's as if we named it ourselves.

I grabbed a 2002 750 katana and it cranks but just won't start. Seems like it's not getting fuel. Paid $700. Help! Need tips. Tried seeing if the petcock flows and it doesn't seem to on prime but also direct fed the carb gas and it doesn't seem to suck the gas in. Also would turnover on starter fluid but then just die
@backcountrybuilds Жыл бұрын
I’d start with confirming you have spark. A good way to test this is to purchase a spark tester. You can get them cheap at any auto part store. The pain is going to be removing the plastics around the fuel tank and the fuel tank itself to get access to the coils/spark plugs. I’d start by removing a spark plug wire, then using the spark tester to make sure you have spark, then pop the fuel line off the tank, pour some fuel down the line into the carb (removing the fuel petcock from the equation). Give it half throttle as you do this and try to start it with a little spray of starting fluid at the same time. Also test your battery. You’d be amazed how many times a bad battery will cause machines not to run.
