Got a 2017 Ram 1500 3.6 V6 with 33k miles (was trying to get out of a car with a lot of problems) what kind of lift do you recommend to fit on 35s? (I’m new to this)
@backcountrybuildsАй бұрын
A lot of guys are running Rough Country. Word on the street is they’re increasing quality recently but are still on the cheaper side if I’m not mistaken. Obviously I went with the Fabtech kit which is kinda bougee up there with BDS and all that. Depends on what you’re looking to do with it, but I’ve had really good luck quality wise with mine… but I sure paid for it hahaha. Best of luck, man!
@taylorsampson5434Ай бұрын
@@backcountrybuilds ya. I want to put 35s on it but I’m not sure what the right tires are for my truck just yet and how to know what I should choose
@backcountrybuildsАй бұрын
@@taylorsampson5434 what a lot of guys do, including me, is when you’re first starting out instead of going for the big lift kit right of the hit, try out a leveling kit. Rough country sells a pretty inexpensive 2.5” or 2.0” leveling kit, which will allow you to fit 33s and have them look right. I know you said you’re looking for 35s, which I’d be the first guy to tell you to go for it, but maybe especially with the V6 it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get some additional clearance for 33s with the leveling kit, try out some nice 33x12.5xR20s and you won’t hate yourself trying to move some heavy 35s with the V6. Then down the road if you want to go bigger, you can upgrade from there. A lot of people sell their used 33s on marketplace and Craigslist too. I think it’d be worth it because it’s safest to buy new tires, but here’s some good brands: Nitto, BFGoodrich, Toyo, Goodyear. Also check out customoffsets website, you should be able to put your truck into their website and see what it would look like with different wheel/tire combos. Hope this helps!

Looks great. I am getting my 2015 1500 lifted 6" this week and like your choice of tires and rims. What tires and rims are you using? All of this is so new to me, it's like learning a new language. At exactly 6:32. Those are 35's? Can you tell me what tires/rim size/name, any offset numbers and anything else I'd need to have that set up of tires and rims? I appreciate this. Thank you again.
@backcountrybuildsАй бұрын
6:32 those are 35x12.5xR20 Firestone Destination MTs. I’ve had three different tires on this truck since I bought it. First was Nitto Trail Grapplers, then Firestone Destination (couldn’t get the Trail Grapplers because of COVID), now I’ve got Nitto Ridge Grapplers. The Trail Grapplers are my favorite. They look and perform the best and last the longest but are far more expensive. Good luck with the install! My rims are factory Ram wheels from a black 2017 Tradesman. I have to run at least a 0.25” wheel shim to clear the wheels. I have opted to run 1.5” hub-centric wheel spacers to give it the stance/look I like. Hope this helps.

this happened to me, i Overfilled to the max, the oil was foaming and white smoking, also the filter for the air entry and the filter was pouring oil out, filter was full of oil, and now that i empty it, is no smell of gasoline in the oil removed, but now the exhaust pipe is leaking black oil when on.
@backcountrybuildsАй бұрын
Ok, sounds like if you follow this video you should be in good shape! First step, fill the oil to the proper level (safe line). Don’t be afraid to double check it! Make sure the mower is on a level surface. Also if you just ran the mower, wait a few minutes to let the oil seep back to give you a true reading of the oil level. Remove your air filter, since it’s likely oil clogged like you said! There’s a tube (PCV valve) that dumps excess oil back into the filter housing. It’s worth the $10 for a new air filter! Then, since it was overfilled, it likely clogged the spark plug with oil. Remove the spark plug, pull the pullcord until no more oil comes out. Then put in a new spark plug. Once you’ve got the oil clogged filter removed, oil to the correct safe zone level, oil out of the spark plug hole, and a fresh/clean spark plug, fire it up! It’ll probably smoke until the excess oil burns off, but after a few minutes you should be back in business and the smoke should stop. Once the smoke stops, let it sit for a couple minutes and recheck the oil level! Best of luck.
@KarlsBerg87Ай бұрын
@@backcountrybuilds thanks I'll buy the spark plug today, but what to do with the black oil that appear to be burning inside in the piston, that black come from exhaust pipe
@backcountrybuildsАй бұрын
@@KarlsBerg87 it’s likely excess oil that made its way from the crankcase into the combustion chamber. With any luck after the oil is at the correct level, the heat of the motor should burn the excess oil out of the combustion chamber and the smoke should stop.
