Another great video, Matt. That amazing first shot hit was clearly not a fluke but instead the result of careful preparation and execution (no pun intended, just can't think of a better word). I appreciate your precision in planning, reloading, shooting, and video production and look forward to more adventures. I think your mixture of firearm, air gun, and archery hunting really adds interest and entertainment to your videos. Do you know if weapons like the Crosman/Benjamin Pioneer Airbow are legal for hunting in SA? Jess

@AirArmsHuntingSA 7 жыл бұрын
+Throwback Thanks! Yes they are legal

Hunting with an air bow would make an interesting video. Perhaps Crosman or FX will supply you with their air bow equipment to make that possible. There are very few air bow hunting videos available, but hunter interest here in the US is quite high. Unfortunately, long standing hunting weapon restrictions will have to change to allow air bow use for game animals in most states. Also, I assume you are shooting 4k video, judging by the excellent quality of the cropped close-up of your Waterbuck head shot. Really demonstrates the value of high resolution video. Once again, a great video that is sure to be a hit. Jess

Hi Matt, loving the videos, I'm an airgun shooter my self, mainly because I live in the UK and owning anything else is a real pain, i was wondering if its possible when you not having so much fun :P if you could go through something really basic, like i don't know, mounting and setting up a rifle scope. i have just gotten into HFT, and everything seams a bit off, ive treated my self to one of those Optisan EVX scopes 6-24x50 F1 to be precise and i am really want to make sure its all dialed in correctly and your videos (and shooting ability) are so good id really like your advice, keep up the good work, and hopefully i can become a patreon soon :)

hey Matt, in your objective experience has the tikka or the savage retained better accuracy at longer ranges? thanks for the videos. keep em coming bro
@BushcraftJones
@BushcraftJones 7 жыл бұрын
Honestly, it´s hard to answer that because there is so much more that defines accuracy at long range, like load consistency etc. I know that you couldn´t go wrong with a tikka. It´s no secret that SAKO and Tikka barrels are made in the same factory by the same machines. further the quality, finish and test firing makes it a great rifle. It is harder to get aftermarket and spare parts for a tikka versus the savage. Just my 2 cents.

BushcraftJones thanks dude. ill definitely weigh both of those options when looking for my own rig.

I have a Tikka and a Savage. Accuracy and precision are what they are. Jonas is correct. A load that produces .5 MOA at 100 yards will still be .5 MOA at 500 yards (ignoring for atmospheric variables, of course). Both my rifles shoot .5 MOA with my handloads - a 6.5x55 SE Tikka, and a .308 in the Savage

There are many firearm-channels, also on long range shooting. But still, I thoroughly enjoyed this video. However, I hope air rifles will remain the core business of the channel...that's why we came in the first place. So let's burn some powder now and again...and wack some critters with the PCP's for a living

What the haters do NOT understand is....most nations in Africa have very STRICT rules for utilization of the animals taken. There IS NO WASTE. The meat is used by the local peoples if the hunter does not want it or has no room for it. If nothing else, it is used to feed the guests at whatever ranch the animal is taken on. I am pretty sure Matt will correct me if I am wrong on this, yes?
