The away version only has 1,700 made, out of the 40k, that's why it's being flipped for higher price. Saw one sold for 1,200.

I will not pay that much for a bobblehead because they can easily be duplicated. In couple you will see bunch fake ones being sold on ebay and there is no way to tell one apart from another.

Give it a full season the price of those bobblehead will be down to 50-100. Historically bobblehead don't appreciate in value because so many are made and easily duplicated. That is, you will find copies of this on Chinese market place soon and there will be no way of telling real one from the knockoffs.

The Ohtani factor is huge, and now they've declared one day a year a Shohei Ohtani day in the city of LA--as long as he continues to play in LA. But the people who are trying to cash it with exorbitant prices on the free bobblehead they received are shameful. The only way I can sympathize is if it's someone who is genuinely in financial distress and will benefit from the big cash return. But this was supposed to be a special gift to fans, not a way to scalp the memento. And if half of those end up in a landfill, that would really make me sick. Probably not the Ohtani ones but those for other Dodgers players that they keep giving out. Too much non-recyclable crap out there already.

As someone who has bought and resold a lot (mostly fashion related), I always find it interesting how people react to the prices people pay; like with the Stanley cup hype. It’s always an unknown for certain “new” items to know how much someone would actually pay. If you’re one of the first and you have enough rep, I’ve seen people sell items waaaaay more than you’re typical inflated prices, so listing for 5,000 is excessive, but I wouldn’t be surprised if someone spent 1,000 in the midst of the hype/frustration. People like having “exclusive” items, and I typically sell with a best offer; I don’t trust bidding at all.
