When he got injured last year, I thought his best days were over, and I was frustrated with the Angels for not utilizing his talent. But to my surprise, he adapted his game and elevated it even further. I’m not sure if his arm will ever dominate the way it used to, but like Babe Ruth, his hitting might reach new heights. Plus, there’s a chance he’ll play in the outfield once he's done pitching. Even though I’m primarily a football and basketball fan, I’m Shohei’s biggest supporter because I simply appreciate greatness. Here’s to witnessing more broken sports records!

Except for maybe Canseco, I can't think of anyone else who is a big power hitter who is/was as fast. Well, I'm going to enjoy this season, because if he pitches in 2025, the Dodgers are going to shut down his baserunning and probably only going to let him play around 130 games as a hitter. If he's going to be a starter in the rotation, the Dodger's management are going to look like idiots if they let the guy get hurt running around out there.

I've never seen an athlete who makes so many people run out of adjectives to describe his greatness. Maybe this is what people thought in Babe Ruth's day, I don't know. When Middle School and High School students learn about the Roaring '20s of the 20th Century, Babe Ruth's name is included in the historical narrative as a person who influenced an era, along with Bobby Jones in golf, Red Grange in football and Jack Dempsey in boxing. I highly doubt there will be any mention of Shoei Ohtani's name in the narrative of the '20s of the 21st century when studying American history. @@xavierb9061 Wait a second, it has nothing to do with Ohtani being an Asian. He hasn't influenced an entire generation, the way Ruth and the other athletes I mentioned influenced an era, 100 years ago. One thing though, the 1920s was the first decade in American history where sports invaded the culture. We have had 100 years now of professional sports being a regular part of American society. The 2020s is just another part of that 100 years. as for the black guy reference, do you know that every school history textbook mentions Jackie Robinson and students have been made well aware of his contribution to equal rights? That has been included in the curriculum since the 1980s.

I didn’t think so, but it really is possible according to baseball-almanac. The Dodgers have 9 games left. Don Mattingly (10 in 8 straight games in 1987), Joey Votto (9 in 7 games in 2021), Barry Bonds (9 in 6 games in 2001), and Frank Howard (10 in 6 in 1968). These are just the records, I think, so there may be more. SB should be easy compared to that.

This is my 5,000th liked video and/or short! I've, only, created a YT acct. about a few years ago. So, I thought that, it is only fitting if I mark this auspicious occasion by commenting on a video about another historic achievement. I'm sure that many of you are near or have already passed this milestone. I wanted to wait for the right video to come along and I've found it. I'm not much of a sports fan anymore but, even I can appreciate the greatness of this man and his accomplishments. As a lifelong Angeleno who has lost interest in sports, as I've gotten older, I can still recognize that I'm witnessing something truly remarkable and perhaps generational. So, I say cheers to the Shohei Otanis and Caitlin Clarks of the world.
