5000 monks and the Royal Ballet of Cambodia at Angkor Wat temple

December 3, 2017. More than 5,000 of orange-clad monks joined the Cambodian government for a peace offering ceremony at the western entrance of Angkor Wat temple. The Royal Ballet of Cambodia, accompanied by the Royal Palace's pin peat melodic drumming ensemble, offered a propitiatory dance called Buong Suong (បួងសួង). It is one of the oldest dances in the Khmer classical repertoire. It invokes the spirit of the deceased rulers to bring peace and prosperity to the Kingdom of Cambodia. This was one of the rare opportunities to see the Royal Ballet in a ritual setting.

@@indianlifeculture8008 well actually it was a Hindu temple complex dedicated to Vishnu. His murti is still there. The Cambodians gradually became Buddhist's, but Angkor is originally Hindu, not Buddhist.

Beautiful, peaceful religion. Hopefully the Cambodians will keep it alive, the Islamisation of Malaysia, Indonesia, Southern Thailand, the way minorities and women are being treated like second class citizens is such contrast to Buddhism which looks for inner peace and enlightenment. Hold onto this and don't dismantle the religious structures of society to give way for nefarious religions and cult like religions

i remember the last time i was there, it was before pandemic. The temple is really really huge and is a sight that really needs to be seen tho, because it is huge its a veeery long way to walk to the back of ankor wat so make sure to bring a lot of water especially that its very hot and as mych as possible, to not get lost.

I want to take a trip there to the temples, I learned about the temples from watching the monkeys channels that are recorded at the temple grounds somewhere there and I'm in love with all the monkeys that I know by name and have watched them grow.
