Mine was a '52 Chev 'business coupe' with a 327 in front. The rock crusher crushed rocks. To those who did not hot rod at the time, the SBC was a revelation and the difference can not even be explained, You had to be there,

Nice .

I didn't know that you could start out in second gear like that.
@Brad355 Жыл бұрын
well, i'm sure that it helps that the car has an extremely low rear gear ratio and the traction prep on the track is low. good conditions to smoke the tires instead of the tranny

In my world that was a tire melting burnout.

I've used a v-gate shifter what a work out sometimes at the line

That's no lie. I don't think that I would ever put one of these in a street car

In 72 I had a 69 GTO Judge 400 RA lll 4 speed with F70 tires ... used to drop the clutch at close to 4000 RPMs in the M20 "2nd Gear" and smoke up the posi for nearly unlimited distances ... unti I destroyed the car being a stupid kid of 18

Nice run, when are you going to be running at Sacrameento again?

Not sure. Going to be at eagle field in two weeks though

Looked better than a 1st gear launch??
@Brad355 Жыл бұрын
I definitely think so. My first gear is so low it doesn’t stand a chance to hook on dusty old airstrips

Look for a M21 3 speed

why 2nd gear on the launch?
@Brad355 Жыл бұрын
I was just kind of expirementing with gear ratios at the starting line. This track has zero prep, and with my (very) low first gear and rear end ratio, the car would only move about 5’ before having to shift to second. I picked up a full tenth leaving in second, because the car actually had room for the RPM to climb off the line
@billmadison2032 Жыл бұрын
@Brad355 what rear gear do you run 4 10?
@Brad355 Жыл бұрын
@@billmadison2032 5.83. It’s an 1/8mi car
@billmadison2032 Жыл бұрын
If I tried that in my car but it would split the transmission in half
@Brad355 Жыл бұрын
@@billmadison2032 yeah, it’s almost a blessing that I haven’t got good traction at any tracks yet. Spinning the tires every pass is easier on the transmission at least

Funny enough, second gear starting line ratio with my tranny and gears is roughly the same as first gear with an m21 and 4.11 rear gears

Over 375 hp doing this with an stock parts M22 remember to bring a dust pan to sweep it up 😂

Can you tell me why hes setting of in second gear?
@Brad355 Жыл бұрын
Trying the benefits of a longer gear ratio off the line. First gear is too short, and on a track with no/poor traction prep first gear just spins the tires and takes time to make the extra shift as opposed to starting in second

@@Brad355 ah yes, I get it!

The car is only geared for the 1/8 mi, but I can say lifting at the 8th it was coasting to the quarter in 11.8X at about 80 mph
