Man this is the car that got me hooked on 2.3 turbos. I bought a ‘79 Pinto, got a ‘88 TC engine, Merkur wiring harness, and had everything ready to crank it. Then my son was born. That was 10 years ago. But I still have everything sitting and waiting.

Hey what’s up buddy I have a 1988 Ford Thunderbird turbo coupe what my best option for Transmission I have automatic transmission second time pulling it out for some reason doesn’t want to hold the power car stock
@2300gearjammer2 жыл бұрын
That's a little tricky because I haven't done much of it. If you want to keep an overdrive your best shot is having the A4LD trans built with explorer parts. I've seen people say those hold up better. Otherwise a c4 swap but you lose overdrive.
@820performancecomptonbro42 жыл бұрын
@@2300gearjammer What’s the best place to order the C4 from or can I get it from a junkyard to convert to stick shift
@2300gearjammer2 жыл бұрын
If you go shift shift you either need everything from a mustang, bellhousing, cable and pedals....or it has to be 87-88 TC specific since those used a hydraulic clutch.

Joe Morgan took a production block and crank to around 800ish with the Focus wagon that you can find on line and maybe on the KZbins. Early 2000s hotrod magazine... He ran into oil/crank and thrust bearing issues. Crank Flex was likely the issue. The SVO guys were impressed and didn't think it was a good idea...ha! After that he eventually got the aluminum block, Esslinger crank and dry sump deal. Then the C4 would be a challenge if the other driver was disrespectful on the tree. The car went 8.50s with a best of 8.30 at 3000 ft altitude.
