Turbo 4cyl Mustang Dyno Fireball

We are knocking out the first dyno trip on the new engine and it went about as expected. It stayed together which is always the main thing and we get to send out a shirt to somebody that guessed exactly on the money.

I like the dyno for debugging a combo but dont care for numbers just for verifying clean pulls, the track is where we pour the power to them anyway. Good numbers on a dyno means nothing because in my experience, what happens on the dyno dont always happen at the track😂

Its funny how while looking for Bronco 2 2.9 MegaSquirt information/data i come across this channel. This being the 2nd video ive watched (purely daydreaming) and get nothing but positive vibes from both. Regardless of me not trying to build a 400hp 89 B2, i have respect for a guy who not only has built (mutiple I'm sure) a bad ass 2.3 furbo Mustang, but also for having such a positive attitude attitude about it. Using the horsepower formula, 338 lb.ft. at 5500 extrapolates to almost 496 horsepower at 7700 rpm. My guess was 498. I'll take my t-shirt in black, large please.

@@2300gearjammer I (wrongfully) assumed you'd be able to rev it close to your drag strip runs. My ignorance of dynos did me in but at least the methodology was in the ballpark. Are you going back to the race track before the weather turns too cold?

I was way off (171). I used 504 because that’s what Kevin’s SVO made with the 2.3 and 26 pounds boost, Bo Port cast iron head… etc

Well no more guessing for me. Too many variables. 5200 rpms? I am going to call you out as a sandbagger. We didn't even see the screen or printout. Oh you forgot to factor in sea-level, was running 87 octane, tires were wrong size, I didn't lubricate my hubcap gaskets and muffler bearings. Glad I can afford to buy a t-shirt. my boat with a 2.3 liter was doing the same thing ....full throttle ..shut down full throttle shut down again .over and over. took me 5 years to figure out the tach was shorting out and killing the coil !!! runs like a raped ape now !!!

My ms1 would reset when my plugs would get worn. My ms3 doesnt do that i just get a misfire. Make sure your plugs are reaistor type helps alot.

I have the resistor plugs on my list of things to remind people. That wasn't my problem but you have a very important tip.

aw man i think i was pretty much with your guess which was 422 rwhp and u said its done 430 and that was your guess so I should get a tshirt as well 🤪 422 rwhp is what my pinto made on the dyno n/a . What was your combo for that? Nowadays there are much better turbos for 1.6 to 2.0l with 350 to 600whp and over 400ftlb.

I just started following you and have question for you on 2.3l mustang. I just installed turbo kit from ebay on me 2.3l 87 mustang.can you tell me what kind of ecu should I use to help with the kit and I have 5.0 that I would like to build some day.can the ecu work with both 2.3l and 5.0l?

The stinger performance pimpXS is the best option if you wanted to use one on a V8 one day too. That's my plan

Sooo they are selling me a ranger with that same motor turbo and all , dude pulled a 12 in a stick shift , unpopular opinion ummmm what’s the best auto or power glide type tranny I can put in it

You can put a c4 in the easiest but they are really sensitive to get the right convertor. The more gears the better though, a power glide will suck the life out of them

I just put a comp 280h in my ranger and it hits a good lick. Noticable Power comes in good above 3500 rpm if it's a 5speed

This has always been something I never got dialed. Theres a catch can and a second hose that runs down to the downpipe for evac. It's not great.

I run a very different fuel so I wouldn't. Somebody can send you a starter file just got slowly and carefully no matter what you get.

It's called a Doug Nash 4+1 5spd that is faceplated. Really old stuff. The newer versions would be a liberty LSC5100 or a gforce GF5R.
