Brilliant Johan, on the right day fly fishing in NZ is exceptional. I have spent so many hours on the river with my son and even my wife who just reads a book and watches, but all of that adds to the memories and makes the experience so much better

Great images! What a trip! Thanks for sharing. In Europe all rivers have huge pressure, so it must be nice to be in those unspoiled environments

Nice storytelling and the fishing looks fabu ! Curious what size rods you brought for your trip, as those rainbows were gi-nor-mous❓ ☮ from North Idaho, USA.

Thanka very much. We were using 9ft 6wt rods with floating lines and 3x tippet.

Nice video. I’m heading to NZ is couple of months for 5 weeks of fishing. One thing I wondered about though, you mention concern for fishing pressure in these areas. I would have thought given the challenges in getting there and majority of people would be practicing catch and release that the fishing pressure would be insignificant in the scheme of things? Am I missing something?
@CrazyAboutFlyFishing6 күн бұрын
It's hard to get there on foot. Not hard with a helicopter. So the concern is more giving away the spot online and flooding it with anglers. That's why I'm careful how I film these places. Not everyone going there is a fly fisher. Probably more hunters who will generally spin fish. This place is fine though. Very good trout population. That's not the case everywhere so it's more of a general food for thought about how we preserve these amazing fisheries for future generations.
@Rstytrsrs43256 күн бұрын
@ cheers, well I can’t afford a helicopter, so will be safe from me when I’m there!
@CrazyAboutFlyFishing6 күн бұрын
@Rstytrsrs4325 there is plenty of awesome spots accessible on foot. Feel free to email me and I'll give you some info on resources to find them. Have a look on my channel under live streams. There is only one and you will find it useful. Tight lines and hope you have an awesome trip

Why does every serene scene have to be ruined by unnecessary ‘triumphant orchestral’ music? Great footage
@bobbylolimg19288 күн бұрын
It's funny how we want to be able to fish these spots, but keep them secret to everyone else. Ironic eh?
@CrazyAboutFlyFishing7 күн бұрын
Not secret to everyone, just not publicly broadcast the location over the internet. I share with friends and keen fly fishers who will look after it. But it's important to be careful sharing to the masses.
