Fantastic and fascinating discussion. I really appreciate when history is spoken of in the context of the time of the history. I don't think it's right or helpful to place 2024 morale's on history made 150 years ago. Thank you!

It's insufferable how often it is done. "Presentism" is a widespread problem.

I strongly recommend "When France Fell" by Michael Neiberg. This book emphasizes the tremendous impact of the fall of France in 1940, France had colonies in America, which could be controlled by Vichy France, in cooperation with Germany. In addition, Germany now had bases on the Atlantic coast. All this represented a new, and much more significant threat to the U.S. I also recommend "Tomorrow the World: Hitler, Northwest Africa, and the Path Toward America" by Norman J. W. Goda.

Wait till he hears America First was a propaganda campaign to trick America into WW2. After FDR approved American War Bonds right before Pearl Harbor. Hmmm. We're done with you ##$@#$@#$@!@@@!!!! Did the US approve of killing millions? Yep!
