Be careful with those SLAP rounds matt. The bolt close issue is because the profile of the projectile is different than standard rounds, the sabot extends farther than the shoulder of a normal ball round. Also, the muzzle brake needs to be specifically designed for saboted rounds, most aren't.

in Scott's slap videos he mentioned the RN-50 he uses specifically has a Machine gun chamber, meaning it's looser than a standard one and that's probably why the round got stuck

​@darylshriver8486 Scott's RN50 issue was powder charge related, not a "stuck bullet". Mark Serbu sent off powder residue from the destroyed RN50 parts for chemical analysis. It's was a very fast burning pistol formulation loaded in the round instead of a slower burning rifle powder. And it's was likely over charged....with the wrong powder too. Matt's issue in this video is because very few 50bmg rifles have a properly shaped chamber to load and shoot the saboted lite armor penetrator. The shoulder of the sabot extends past where the shoulder is of a normal ball round. I'd have to look again at which few milspec rifles are chambered to fire the slap, but it's many, 3 at most.

Another great video, love this channel. Suggestioin, I'd like to see ballistics gel placed behind targets to see what kind of penetration / force remains after passing through. lots of tests out there to see if armor, a tree, or wall can stop a round and the conclusion is binary, yes or no. I'd like to see how much power a round still has. like a side by side, 50BMG direct into ballistics gel next to 50BMG into ballistics gel after punching through 3A+ armor, wall, or tree (for example).

​@@The_KeeperTo be fair, engine blocks are usually unhardened metals that are designed to withstand the wear and tear of moderate temperatures for long durations. Body armors are designed to withstand extremely short bursts of extremely high energy. The material requirements are completely different. A .50 BMG will go through an engine block, too. Some smaller aluminum blocks can be damaged by smaller calibers. I think it would be a worthwhile test because of the difference in materials.

4 bore no way, it would hit like a cannonball and squish that clay out the back end of the box though. Punt gun would technically not penetrate but with buck shot the spread means you are taking the hit unless you are wearing the 9 plates over every square inch of your body. :p

We use to get 30cal accelerator bullets which is a saboted 22cal bullet and would use them reloading 30-30 ammo and those little things would demolish stuff for being a 22cal projectile

looked like the penetrator was extended out of the casing too far which lodged too far into the barrel when chambered. SLAP-T rounds Ive used never had penetrators sticking that far out of the casing. They may have pulled it out to cause the obstruction on purpose to allow for the skit, thats my assumption
