I raced the Ocala, FL Enduro, row 3, on my line was Larry Roeseler and Ty Davis, late 1990's! Larry amazed me at every check, he stranded on his pegs as if he was talking to someone, almost at a dead stop, in line waiting to get scored. After a grueling 80 plus miles he never sat on his seat even one time in that deep sand whoops. I won my class that day, trying to keep up with those amazing athletes.

To me the real heroes are the dudes on bikes, they don't have a co driver, they don't have helmet ventilation and cooled jackets. They don't have 4 wheels with 3 feet of suspension travel. It's just them, a bike and a big tank of fuel.... and some gynormous balls.

The guy pulled a wheelie at the finished line and the road was slippery he slid out and I think someone broke their leg or something like that. I wish I had the money to do this kind of racing. It's impressive what the drivers and crews do in order to finish the race let alone do well enough for top positions. I agree with what the trophy truck drivers say when it comes to the guys on bikes racing. I wouldn't want to be one of them on the course with trucks flying by me. I think the guys on the bikes are the most hardcore racers.
@Supperdude93 жыл бұрын
It is the "purist" route though. The Baja was initiated by Honda to prove their bikes could handle offroad terrain. The original Baja race was just two Honda motorcycles driving the peninsula to prove that those bikes were tough enough, and it grew from there. So, sure, it's crazy, but it's the original Baja.

Amero I agree, the ultimate for me is changing the settings for the trophy truck, first I go to options then go to driver physics and turn the traction off, second I go to the garage and change the suspension to the highest ride height as possible with the grippiest tires as possible change it to manual transmission and make the shocks donkey kick on the rear end, and put on the worst Cooling, the weakest breaks, then I go race the Baja 1000 on time trial with vehicle damage on full and tree collisions on all, then start the race with first person view and no GPS then just try to not wreck, overheat, or wear out your brakes the entire Thousand Miles. It's a steep learning curve but it makes you drive your f****** ass off.

Checking the records, Motorcycles have won 34 of the baja 1000's. from 1967-1973 bikes one 1 race. since 1975 to 2017 bikes have won 33 of 42 races. the last 3 years these big trucks shown here have won by about an hour. Many races were within a few minutes of each other. I researched this because one of those big old truck guys said he would hate to be bike with one of those trucks coming by. Yes, but it doesn't happen often. As we all know.
@scottleggejr7 жыл бұрын
Back when the top trucks were class 8 and had to run factory suspension and full factory frames. At the same time, the bikes were basically unlimited. Times have changed with the full tube trucks and advances in computers and technology in manufacturing. Formula 1 is faster than motoGP, but it wasn't always that way either.
@rixiv78687 жыл бұрын
Yep it sucks now that the trucks are getting fast enough to catch the bikes. In the last 50 miles of the race this year the leading two trophy trucks caught my dad.
