For the first time in 2023, the iconic race through Mexico's Baja California peninsula took place on a new course running south to north. Beginning in Baja California Sur's La Paz and stretching north to the finish line in Ensenada, Baja California, the course totaled 1,310 challenging miles - the second longest in the race's history. I’d also just like to say “ Hello “ to the McMillans here as I used to help prep Mark , Scott & Corky’s rigs over 30 plus years ago when Marty & Jimmy Stuhler ( long time friends of mine ) used to work for them in the race shop , and on occasion I pitted with the team or helped with the Mag-7 guys down in Baja . Great accomplishment to finish , but even more rewarding whenever you win , be it in your class or Overall especially 😎👍

How do the teams make it to the next stop quicker than the racing car?

A lot of times the highway section is shorter and quicker than the race course. But most pits for the top teams are stationary for the race, that is a lot of pits for 1300mi. Some top teams will fly drivers by helicopter to pits if not able to drive by highway during race. Slower classes will have floating pits, and may leapfrog to stay in front of race vehicle.

This race is a joke. All sponsored rigs with repair teams along the way. I am 76, and this race was enjoyable when the weekend garage builders ran it. That was real competition, unlike these clowns. Big money always ruins good competition. Look at NASCAR. Again, real cars ran that raced, not steel roll bars and paper bodies.
