Jonathan, what you get done in a day, takes the rest of us a month!!!. The 51 will look fantastic repainted Rio Green, BUT, PLEASE don't paint the chrome, just clean and polish it as best as it can be and leave it at that. She's nearly 70 yrs old, all those "beauty marks" are EARNED. The interior looks really nice, you done good!!

That 51 Bullet nose is quite the looker. Love to listen to it run. Be nice to see it painted that original green, but then again, the patina is so fantastic! But in the end, that gorgeous interior (it really is!) deserves a lovely paint job on the outside. Thanks!

The 51 would look great painted, it would be one of those that people couldn't walk by and not stop. The color you picked would really be great, at least for someone my age who remembers when seeing one on the road was an every day thing. No doubt your plans will be the right one.

Jonathan, I know you have expressed why you prefer to leave cars as is, and not painting them. Your call. That being said, if you DO paint that '51 Stude, I'm delighted you'll paint it the original color! I think that car deserves it! MY opinion, mind you...if you don't paint it, that is your call. The '56 Stude. I'm sure you'll decide about that carpet. The Drag car, well, I don't understand the front-end geometry, you do and that's what counts..I'll understand it when I see it done. That thing you bought, HEY!!! I'd forgotten all about the rat rod body! GREAT IDEA!! Splicing into the back portion!!! If I know you, you'll work that out too. The mind is a curious thing you know. It works on problems even though we are not aware it's working the problem. Jonathan, I am always amazed at what you come up with, and the quality of your work! Great video!!! Keep on wrenching!!!

The Champion will be sharp painted. And the "thing" no longer looks like a thing! What a difference a day makes. The Hawk is gonna be gorgeous when finished it's such a sweet body style. I know it's got to be a challenge on the Triumph because thats a LOT of motor and drivetrain going in such a small car but it's still come a long way. I really enjoy watching y'all. Always glad to see new videos.

For the '51 you might want to consider this: repair anything you'd like to see chromed with body filler and then have them "chromed" with spray-on chrome that gets clearcoated. There are different companies that make it and shops that will do it for you. It comes out great. Almost identical to real chrome as far as the look. Much cheaper than real chroming. Holds up good. Check it out on line.

Yes the old studie desrves a paint job. I never would have guessed it but those ford wheels really kinda set it off. Maybe try a steamer on the golden hawk carpet. Maybe it will help it relax. I think you are on the right track with the idea of painting the 51 Stude. Especially with that original green !!! What is that front body you are using on the "Morph" car?? It has no gas filler (Model A) and no air vent (32) so ??? Not Ford ??? Have you considered acing the stepped frame in favor of a "high-boy" type straight frame??? So much "cleaner" and easier??

And, then Jonathan says: "Hold my Pepsi... watch this." That Studee's lookin' "more gooder" all the time. That 'Hawk carpet, it's a mess. Follow your gut's instinct on the drag car. Miss seeing that one morph along.

Jonathan as one of the few people still alive who had a new studi i have to say you did a great job it sounds like a new one. Everyone nowadays thinks all cars sound like the new ones.
@lateefcarrere16495 жыл бұрын
Just a few thoughts outside of the "I think you're doing a great job" box... 1. If you do paint the '51 Stude the original color, it's going to look fine - your attention to detail will insure that. If you don't, that's fine too - you've got it running, driving, & it's got a nice interior. I think it's done...for now. 2. You're right about the carpet for the '56...it's not right for the car, & no amount of liquid refreshment will change that. Maybe a lighter color(at the risk of having to clean it more often) is the way to go. 3. Now I know why I haven't seen more recent videos of the drag car - you needed a break from it. Cars can be great - especially when you're the one building it - but they can get your dander up, & giving yourself some time away can be refreshing. Now all you have to do is figure out which of your thousands of ideas is the right one for that front end. 4. (finally) About that thing you bought: Noah MAY have misheard you, but I think he did the right thing. Cutting that body up was that car's solution. If what you're trying to do isn't working out to your satisfaction, scrap it - and put the frame under the Chrysler. That's my good deed for the day. BTW, I think you're doing a great job.

Great stuff, and I am enthused at you painting the 51 Studebaker, I know you can do a good job, I mean, you might as well, I understand its a personal family use car so ya might as well go all out for a precise body work and prep for a precise paint job,....of course you have your work cut out for finishing up the body work, but at least you have all the skills, the tools and the location to do it. The drag car, ....I didn't follow that much, don't remember seeing former videos,....the new project of the bondo wonder,....wow, I hate bondo, it was meant to smooth out slight imperfections and folks use it to make body panels layered buildup,....I was guilty of it once myself, I was screwing around, ground on a rust spot on a car that was left to the weather for years,...pitted,...well, I got stupid and took a grinder to it,...stretched the roof metal,...whoops,....filled it in with bondo, right after I was done I knew I was one of the most stupid people on the planet. Now I know how to use a torch to fix a problem like that, well, with age comes wisdom,...I'd never stretch metal that way again. Reminds me of the time I welded next to glass with a mig welder,.....I had a crazy idea that sparks would bounce off the glass instead of pitting the glass, ...good thing the 77 Pontiac Firebird wasn't worth much, but I sure did eliminate all the holes and rusted out lower door panels with so little bondo after the welded in patch panels I am unsure if I even need to mention my use of it there to smooth over some lines.

As far as i know bump steer is largely affected by the alignment of knuckles. If the attachment point of the outer tie rod is in line with center of hog head and kingpin/ ball joints steering axis. So outboard of steering axis if rack is in front or slighty inwards if rack is in the rear. So if you change your mind about finishing it quickly... If you can swap knuckles from side to side and mount the rack in the rear(rear sump pan?) Would probably drive the best after the wheelie.
