This channel is awesome! The amount of knowledge Jonathan has is amazing. I've watched him build hot rods, tow trucks , steam engines, you name it

Hi Rob, I tried messaging you a while back. I know where there is a really nice Kewanee boiler and Macon Iron works engine. You can have it for free with the understanding that you have to remove it from the property. It was steamed as recently as five years ago. Contact me if interested.

I was just thinking about it 20 some years ago.When I worked at Ace iron and metal on Grove port road columbus OH they had a giant clip share.We used it to cut up aluminum bumper reinforcements reinforcements and john boats Any large piece of aluminum that was difficult and hard to cut it would snap right into.Anyway they said it was originally a steam powered item

This isn't a limousine at all. This is merely a 4 door sedan, and this is not a Series 40, which is the Buick Special, the bottom-of-the-line Buick, this is a Series 80 Roadmaster, model 81. This was second to the top-of-the-line Series 90 Limited.
@jonathanw494210 күн бұрын
@jamesbosworth4191 why does it ha e a power divider glass between front and rear? That makes it a limo, no matter how short it is.
@jamesbosworth419110 күн бұрын
@@jonathanw4942 Probably aftermarket. There were Series 90 Buick limousines, but this is not a Series 90 car. At least it doesn't look like it. Maybe you could include a still picture in profile, so we can really see? Without moving the camera?

New subscriber here. I've seen a few of your videos in the past and just now joining in. Those hub caps look almost just like the ones on my 48 Champion 5 passenger coupe. Did they use the same ones for that long? I'm needing a set and that should make it somewhat easier to find if they were made that long...maybe? I'm seeing a lot of Studebaker content on youtube lately. Not sure if they are getting more popular or just the algorithm is showing more of them to me. Either way, I'm enjoying all the Studebaker videos.

There was a company that restored these steering wheels, but they retired. I know they sold the business and all the molds to someone but those guys haven’t started up the new business yet. After 57 the steering splines were different so you have to use a 56 or older wheel (or change the column) I have a wheel from a Commander sedan on mine because it cost 1/8th what the correct GH wheels cost now

Oh yeah, wheels: Chrysler and Ford rear-wheel drive cars use the same bolt pattern as Studes. I put wheels from a 2000 Ford Ranger on my 56. I also have a Turner disc brake conversion on mine and stock Stude wheels don’t fit over the calipers. I wanted to keep the stock caps I had so I went with the Ford wheels. The Chrysler ones fit fine on the car but full size wheel covers won’t stay on those wheels, only dog dish sized caps. I have 215-75-15 tires and they don’t rub at all.

I really like your discussion on fun for the money! Enjoy a classic car and spend money you can afford and be comfortable with. A Golden Hawk 56 in mint condition would cost you plenty, but you can get a decent nice driver and have as much satisfaction! GOOD JOB!!!!
