As someone who just moved to Buenos Aires this video is spot on. I landed last week and transferred money to a local western union on their app, went in with my ID and 5 mins later was out and had my arg pesos. Great video and content!

Most registered exchangers also deal blue dollars "once inside". We use them all the time and it's safe. If you walk into one, just ask how much for a dollar and you'll know. If it's the official rate, then you just walk out. But I've never had to walk out.

Hello Brian BA: Great info!!! I am a retired US guy looking to escape the insanity of the US. Do you know of any honest and reliable Argentines who provide immigration services for a reasonable fee? I know times are hard all over, so I'm sure there are some sharks out there who would relish a gringo goulash.;-) Also, do you know of any people who have one bedroom flats available in Tigre? (I understand it's a bit safer in the BA exurbs.) Thanks for your interesting videos!

Hi Teil! Glad to hear from you. And thanks for the kinds words. Honestly, I don't know of anyone who does immigration services but let me ask around. Also have you checked out the BA Expat website? baexpats.org/. I have found some reliable info there, you need to dig a bit. Your best bet for renting a place when you first arrive is AirBnb, it is sometimes a bit more expensive but I find it to be the easiest. Also look at www.zonaprop.com.ar/ for the Argy website. Another great and informative video. I lived in Buenos Aires Argentina for nearly 10 years. I first arrived in Argentina in 2005 and the rate was 3.7 to one U.S. dollar. I found out about the blue market on my last trip to Argentina in March of 2020. Here is my question is their a way to pay for a hotel or an airbnb without using my debit or credit card 💳. When renting a hotel before if I used my debit card or credit card and showed my passport I avoided the 21% Vat tax charged to citizens of Argentina. Again a great and informative video. My last question are the exchange places on Florida Street in Buenos Aires legal or illegal or I forgot is Argentina going to create say a 5000 peso 📝?

Hi Mark! Not sure about paying without a credit card. I expect Airbnb always requires it. You might be able to find a small hotel that would allow you to do a wire transfer perhaps instead of using your credit card. There are exchange places which are 'legal', Cambiobaires has locations around the city. I think that most you encounter on Florida are 'illegal', though it is all done out in the open.

They don't give you 92% LESS/Fewer PESOS !!!! That's NOT how the math works! You get circa 90%, whatever the exact number, the formula is [ (BLUE - OFFICIAL) / OFFICIAL ] MORE PESOS if you sell dollars in the BLUE market compared to the official market [thus you divide by OFFICIAL], AND you get - in your example - almost 50% LESS/FEWER pesos if you sell dollars in the OFICIAL market compared to the BLUE market [THUS YOU WILL DIVIDE BY BLUE] thus [(BLUE - OFFICIAL) / BLUE]. QED.
