Please make sure to wait a minimum of 10 mins after disconnecting the negative cable on the battery. Airbags can hold a charge for up to 10 mins and you do not want them going off while your working with them. It can kill you or make you hurt so bad you wish you were dead. Airbags can also go off 2 times as some have an extra canister to deploy in case of another collision after the initial collision. Great how to video but every please respect airbags.

After replacing the power steering motor coupling my dash showed the airbag fault light. I remembered how difficult it was to reconnect the plug to the back of the clock spring when putting the column back together. The short of it is that one of the male pins on the back of the clock spring got bent and didn't connect. Following this article, I removed the clock spring and straightened the pin. The connector clipped on normally and easy this time. After reconnecting the battery and starting the car the airbag light went off and cleared itself. Note: I found that the two screws holding the airbag module in can prevent it coming out even when fully loose. After unscrewing both screws, place the small screwdriver under that side of the horn/airbag edge and apply just slight (very slight) prying pressure under that side front edge while you continue to unscrew that side's airbag screw. You will see that side of the airbag/horn pop out. Now do the other side. By design, those two screws will not come out all the way from the column. The airbag, horn will however come out. I did not have to use any kind of scan tool to cancel the airbag dash light and code. Correcting the problem and disconnecting the batt did it. This video was great and informative without all the extra crap and Hollywood acting like so many others!

A couple helpers not mentioned...if you take the steering wheel off too fast its going to rip the old clock sping apart. Also he didnt mention that you have to pry the steering sensor off the old one and snap it on the new. I almost thought I didnt have the right clock spring. Otherwise good video.

Kia says 35 lb ft for steering wheel lock nut… just snug it up good and your in good shape
