8:46 I absolutely agree with that! I've been learning 52 from Lyte Burly since 2010 just from KZbin alone. And I've developed my own style of 52, just a little bit of changes here and there. And I think there's nothing wrong with that, martial arts is meant to be experimented with and evolve.

@@livefrom5531 What a stupid thing to say. No one makes millions from Martial Arts apart from top tier UFC fighters and people that own a thousand children's TKD franchises. I honour and respect the traditions that 52 comes from, I point people to where they can find out more. If content like this gets more people of all colour to explore, learn and enjoy it - then that's a success. Or you can keep the same backwards xenophobic view you have now. Either way - I'll be here, drinking my tea not giving a damn. And if you care enough, come fight me about it. Gym is always open.

@@livefrom5531 Birmingham UK. Surely you must see it’s the most stupid racist thing in the world to say someone is stealing it to make money? For one. This is KZbin, it’s free. There’s no advert. There’s no product to buy? It’s a shame people don’t share Lyte’s inclusive and open minded view. You poorly represent your community. But if you want to spar and judge for yourself whether I’m somehow fit or permissible to sharing it - then after my fight in August you’re most welcome. But I’d rather you just realise that’s it’s a stupid, xenophobic and unhelpful way to think - and change for the better.

My journey in martial arts has lead me to question some of the sport systems which heavily influence self defence, I really think some of the frames you demonstrated are more realistic and can be used proactively instead of relying on speed and reflexes to avoid strikes.

Skull and cross bow followed by second one to strike is brilliant. Weak point is that you can be taken down with leg grap as it encourages upright, square stance. . So..I always drill this that with a boxing step around to the left. BTW if you want to see 52 blocks in a movie "Out of the Furnace". Casey Afflect does it. Brilliant

A recommendation... you want to have your back hand covering your centerline, that is the proper guard. Should the punch slip off the elbow you need that hand covering the center ready to parry or catch the incoming punch, and you won't have time to do so if the hand positioning is incorrect.
@avakinzerochill2 жыл бұрын
Maybe if this were wing Chun, but it's not. The opposite hand covers the face to prevent being knocked out
@j.artavia10682 жыл бұрын
@@avakinzerochill It has nothing to do with wing chun. In this guard the elbow covers the centerline, while the rear hand covers just above the elbow to protect your center(face) in case the punch slips off the elbow. If your line teaches to keep your hand on the side of the face cool, but we don't teach it that way. There is more space to cover in order to defend should the fist get past the elbow. We may do it the same but express it in words differently. You in NYC? Bless

Doesnt SnB involve footwork?
@TommyMooreww2combatives3 жыл бұрын
Tones of it! I have a pretty crap camera set up but watch Lyte’s videos, you need good footwork to cover safely, gain a good angle and then knock em out 🙏🥊
@victorsrur1342 жыл бұрын
yes,he shows some skull and crossbones variations with footwork in some videos, you move to the opposite direction of the elbow to defend against punch from the back hand SnB normally defend read hand punch(jab) with rear elbow,and back hand punch(cross) with back elbow,but if you move to the right when you're blocking with your left elbow you can block jabs and cross,and go to the left when you're blocking with the right elbow to defend both jab and cross

I learned 52 concepts from a OG friend years ago and he learned it in prison. I have taught my son 52. I've used it in street combat and some of the techniques work. I've been asked to teach it for pay. It's alot like Muay Thai with the elbows and Jun Fan trapping in a way. Diallo Frazier is about the closest thing that I have seen to what I know. And it is the real deal. This stuff here is just basic stuff you can learn in any CQB system.

@@mcneil11 by that logic, so is every single african american who has ever taken a karate, kung fu, BJJ class etc etc. in fact, if you want to further explore such a futile accusation, I would suggest that as 52 is CLEARLY influenced by filipino arts, its own founders are also "culture vultures". DO you see how utterly ridiculous and unhelpful such a phrase is? Are the Wu Tang clan "culture vultures" for appropriating chinese influences? Or does it "not count"? Do you also call Lyte Burly a "culture vulture" for for doing taiji/wing chun videos? Was Biggie Smalls a "culture vulture" when he dressed up as an italian mobster? Thought not.

@Righteous Shadows Dojo its happened to EVERY culture in the history of the world. I'm sure the first caveman prob hit another one with a stick, does that mean every person doing escrima is a "culture vulture". This nonsense is just ridiculous and perpetuated by social media that profits and thrives on division/conflict. some people just aren't happy unless they can play the victim in some capacity. This gentleman was extremely articulate as to the arts origins, he's not trying to palm it off as 'his' in anyway (truth be told its a completely blatant rip from silat/panatukan). If you have ever had a pizza or chinese take out, are you a culture vulture? Going on this analogy, any black person driving a car, using the internet etc etc is a "culture vulture". Its ridiculous.
