#52 Yamaraja: Power of a Name (Canto 6 Ch 3 Srimad Bhagavatam)

What's in a name? A lot. Companies believe in the power of branding and all branding begins with a name. The name of a company has power. The name of a country has power.
When we call someone names those names have power. When we call someone a fool, an idiot, or something derogatory that name is the worst form of violence we can commit. It sits in the heart and tears down the person's self-esteem. At the same time when we call them intelligent, beautiful or hard-working, we empower them to do great things.
The ultimate name is the name of God. Some religions won't even let you utter the name. Others have only one name - that God is great. But God is much more than we can imagine.
That is why in the Vedas say that He has many names. Those names are none different than God. When we chant the names of God we connect and commune with God. The name of God cleanses the heart and purifies our karma. It ultimately frees us from the cycle of birth and death and brings us back to God.

Thank you Prabhuji. From 2018 to 2020, I was in mental state of depression due to material entanglement, I still can't believe I was in such a state. Everday felt the same, looping and looping again and again, the world started looking so fake in front of my eyes. I started to question life and only started to find answers slowly from 2022 onwards. 2023 I finally found a definite answer, Shree Krishna. I started to chant few rounds slowly, and then started doing 16 rounds, at first it felt like a chore and my mind was trying to force me to be lazy and skip it, but I kept going and now its a habit, I am just chanting 16 rounds, in home, on my way to work or during work. Chanting definitely has purified my heart more. I am fortunate and grateful. HariBol
