The wrestling coach at 31:00 is Terry Brands. He is the associate Wresting Coach at the University of Iowa. He and his twin brother Tom, who were very exceptional wrestlers who were known for their hard-nosed "Iowa Style". He won the NCAA championships twice in college at Iowa under legendary coach Dan Gable and won worlds twice in 1993 and 1995. He was a bronze medalist at the 2000 Olympics. His brother Tom won the Olympics in 1996. There is a great documentary about him called "Terry". Should be on KZbin by FloWrestling.

Lads strongman fan fact-checking you guys about Thor’s deadlift Thor’s has done 474kg was without a suit, only belt and figure 6 straps. (Elephant bar) He also attempted 501kg without a suit and only with a belt and figure 6 straps at Arnold’s in 2019. ( he was very close , pulled nearly over his knee). Elephant bar.

I agree, it must be very painful for Thor to get back to his prior peak. Injection site abscesses are a pain in the tuchus

Helander was in Potchefstroom, South Africa. You guys should really watch his triple broad jump video, where he did 11.16 meters. It’s insane.

17:34 As someone who pulls both raw and suited (coz I compete in both Powerlifting and Strongman), you can get as much as 15-20kg out of the suit IF YOU KNOW HOW TO MANIPULATE THE COMPRESSION OF THE SUIT. The suit helps in accelerating the bar off the floor more or less. To the defense of strongman competitors, they have a lot of events that demand a lot from their posterior chain so the Deadlift Suit is a necessity to save their posterior chain from extra work.

Wow 474kg deadlift. If that’s what Halfthor can pull, I’d love to see what a full Thor can lift

You guys aren't wrong; when I started rurking and doing kang squats, I noticed my low bar squat went up a lot easier and I eventually was able to add 15 lb to my PR within a couple of months of overloading those accessories. Same thing goes for the Zercher squats and the Zercher hinge (which I would call a good-night because it's very similar to the RDL and the good morning, except that the weight is closer to your center of mass requiring a much stronger brace with the risk of passing out if you aren't paying attention)

As a rower, the fench style mimicks pretty well the width of the feet in a boat. Would it be more beneficial to the sport to squat with this stance than a more comfortable stance?

If you want to know what a deadlift suit feels like set up some reverse bands to assist you in the first 9-10 inches or so. The suit really helps get the bar off the ground but you run out of assistance very quickly. You really have to use the momentum and have a very strong lockout. Also, I can not stress this enough, deadlifting in a suit is truly miserable. It smashes everything you don’t want smashed and makes it almost impossible to breathe. It SUCKS.

For kabadi, one thing missing is once he crosses his line to touch the other team he has to start saying the word "Kabadi" and keep repeating it until he gets back to his side.

Also they are hold their hands so they can force him to be on their side before he runs out of breath/stops saying kabadi because then he will be out.

I watched the world deadlift champs this year and non of those guys were close to the 505, no where near. Thor is the one guy I have some faith in being able to beat 500. the question is will his body give out before he gets there, and can he do it in a commpetition his 501 was insane though, in some ways it is a shame he didnt go for 505 on that day as i feel as though it would have silenced a lot of the nay sayers

Thor should have pushed his wr higher when he did the 501 instead of just doing it to best Eddie. Coming back for it now after injuries and aging a bit is gonna be way harder

14:00 Speaking about impressive physiques and different countries/ethnicities: some of the athletes with the most well-developed physiques in South American and North American are black. I bet if Africa was a bigger player in the weightlifting world we'd see these muscular physiques more often, not because all Africans have these traits, but the parts of Africa that have them produce truly freak-looking athletes and they'd take all the attention.
