Good stuff on the explanation of why and where you mounted your light. Also, you are right about the bright white lights showing to the rear of the vehicle while on a highway. The Highway Traffic Act limits the amount of white light showing to the rear while on a highway. A good comparator is the license plate light on your car, truck, etc. Thanks for the plug Gord, appreciated. Cheers

As others have said, get some dielectric grease for those connections-it will save on corrosion in the future. Also for future reference or others doing this, use one male snd one female on each side of the connections. For example on the light do positive wire as a male connector and ground/negative as a female connector and then reverse that on the tractor connection side. Also use some heat shrink tubing over the wire end of the connector to provide some water resistance. Or better is to get 2 wire connectors that have build in water resistant connection. This ensures correct connections in low lighting. Great job on the install and mount.

Thanks harry, That's a good idea. I have not tested it with the radio yet but it meets the SAE "J" standard for electronic interference so it shouldn't but I will check that out. ( the radio is kind of static-y to begin with but I'll see if it is worse. Thanks again!

Great video, Gord! If I may suggest, re-mount the light on the left side of the tractor. There is less chance of hitting a branch, less chance of it being blocked by trees while driving along the concession and it places it closer to passing traffic indicating the width of your tractor better.

Nice set up Gordon..the only thing I would have preferred is bullet connectors with heat shrink but I think you'll be fine . On a different topic..I never throw away old extension cords with bad ends ...they make excellent wire for running wire to lighting and other things..I prefer it to single wire being ran..it has double insulation so no need for additional loom and is more weather tough

One trick that might help next time is to go to kubota and get a pair of connectors for the led cab light. Then wire these together on the beacon wire. Now you can remove any light without having to remove the other and you can do the wiring inside in the warm. Cheers!

Now there's a guy who 'afraid of the dark'! LOL That's a great beacon Gord, well done. I'm glad too that you warned folks about buying those 'cheap and crappy lights that we all see 'on-line' and from places like Amazon. I've always laughed at those reviews that think because they got a " fast" delivery that the product must be great. They only got what they darned well paid for. I tell friends to always check with the local dealers for a lot of the stuff we see on line,..in a lot of cases you can buy it at the same or lower cost then the delivered price from "on-line' shopping. " Why settle for less when the best costs no more!"

Gord, great video as usual. This past fall I installed some "plug and play" factory lighting on my BX rops. Two observations. 1. it is always fun tinkering with wires on our tractors- it gave me a great feeling of accomplishment as a "weekend warrior" doing stuff that 2 years ago I never imagined I would be doing. 2. We both seem to be at an age where we have to wear reading glasses in order to tinker. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN TO US??? Take care and enjoy the winter.

Good video, Gord. Did you go back and silicone or plug where the wiring used to come out from the base? Heat-shrink bullet connectors and dialectric grease help stop corrosion around your connections. Maybe not such an issue in Ontario, but in the salt air on the Atlantic coast, it helps a lot. Keep up the very informative videos. Cheers

Hi Gord ! Thanks for Part 2 ! Was on the lookout for it, but KZbin is not great at sending alerts, so manual check and bingo ! Nice install ! Guy is a really good friend doing the mount for you and that added piece for stabilization was a good suggestion by another viewer. What type of cost are we looking at for the unit you purchased ? I was on their website but there's no pricing. You must ask for a quote. I was just on Amazon looking, and many of the beacons are anywhere from $29 up to $60, some were almost $100 ( Amazon Canada I'm talking about ) it would be great to know what to expect in terms of cost for your vs the junk on Amazon. Anyway thanks for the video it was a good one, and the intro of you driving up the road was good, wow.... nobody is going to miss you coming or going ! Safety is #1 on these roads !

Kubota LX2610 and 3310, are factory prewired for warning beacons. The exterior wiring is located beside the right rear led light. The dash has a cutout on the left side for the factory switch, and it’s wiring is taped to the main harness. Kubota in there wisdom has made the switch wired to battery feed, so you need to remember to turn it off when leaving the tractor.
@GPOutdoors

Good morning and thanks Bruce -excellent information to know. I will take a look at it, as I did not notice any additional wires there. Question, (if you know), do you know why Kubota does not make a mount for the beacon as well? I know they do have a Beacon I can buy, but no mount for it. Cheers and all the best!
