I live close to two hours drive from Sydney, and we're paying $570 a week for a three bedroom house. We're super lucky but because we're about $100-200 below the area average our landlord could raise the rent easily and we'd be screwed 😅

It’s not necessarily cheaper, with the increasing interest rates a lot of home owners who are still paying off their mortgages are struggling too. You would also need over 100K deposit for a decent home and an annual income of over 100K. Anything less and you will struggle.

I’m absolutely shocked at what people pay for living quarters. We rented a house with 2-bedrooms, 2-bathrooms, and an attached single car garage for $400 a month for a couple of years. At the time, we were building our new home. We paid $20K for our empty lot, we paid $60K cash for half the expenses to build the house, the other $60K for our house build expenses we took out a 25 year mortgage with a monthly payment of $450. We paid the mortgage off in 15 years, and because the housing market is crazy our house is now worth almost $250,000 … and it’s all ours. Mind blowing 🤯
